2021–22 Glasgow Warriors Season
The 2021–22 season will see Glasgow Warriors compete in the competitions: the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Season overview A new league structure was announced on 15 June 2021. With the addition of the 4 ''Super Rugby Unlocked'' franchises of the Bulls, Sharks, Stormers and the Lions, the Pro14 rebranded itself as the United Rugby Championship. There will be 4 regional conferences with teams playing their regional rivals home and away; and teams from the other conferences either home or away. With 16 teams in total, this means 18 normal matches in the season before the play-offs. As Scotland and Italy only have 2 teams each in the United Rugby Championship, they were placed in one regional conference; the Irish sides, Welsh sides and South African sides had their own regional conferences respectively. Glasgow Warriors
Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. The side is known for its fast, dynamic and attacking style of play, using offloads and quick rucks. Defensively the club prides itself on its 'Fortress Scotstoun' where the club play at home. John Manson
John Manson (born 22 June 1968) is a retired Scottish international rugby union footballer who played with the Caledonia Reds and Glasgow Warriors, two of Scotland's first professional rugby teams. Rugby Union career Amateur career Manson played for Hillfoots, Dundee HSFP, Stirling County, and West of Scotland FC at amateur level. Manson, while with the Dundee side, was one of the original Tillicoultry Trogs who brought the hard edge to Dundee HSFP's pack in the club's heyday in the early nineties. Alongside front row companion Danny Herrington, Manson made sure one of Scotland's future heroes, Prop Tom Smith had a tough fight to see 1st XV action with the club. Brad Thyer
Brad Thyer (born 7 February 1993) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for Cardiff Rugby as a prop. He has also previously played for Glasgow Warriors on loan. Rugby Union career Professional career Thyer made his debut for Cardiff Rugby in 2015 having previously played for their academy team. He played 87 times for Cardiff before leaving to begin his loan at Glasgow Warriors. On 9 September 2021 it was announced that Thyer would join Glasgow Warriors on a short term loan deal. Enrique Pieretto
Enrique 'Kike' Pieretto Heiland (born 15 December 1994) is an Argentine rugby union player who plays for the national Argentina team ''The Pumas'' and Australian side New South Wales Waratahs. He previously played for Scottish Pro14 side Glasgow Warriors. Career Professional career He was part of the training group contingent at the Jaguares in the 2016 Super Rugby season, but despite this made 8 appearances for the Super Rugby side. Pieretto suffered an ACL injury prior to the 2018 Super Rugby season that ruled him out of action for 6 to 7 months. Ewan McQuillin (born 12 November 1991) is a Scottish rugby union player. He previously played for Glasgow Warriors, Southern Knights, Yorkshire Carnegie, London Scottish and Edinburgh at the tighthead prop position. Murray McCallum
Murray McCallum (born 16 March 1996) is a Scotland international rugby union player who is now on trial with French side US Montauban. He recently played for Worcester Warriors in Premiership Rugby having previously played for Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby in the United Rugby Championship.
