2021–22 Dumbarton F.C. Season
The 2021–22 season was Dumbarton Football Club's fourth in Scottish League One, the third tier of Scottish football, having finished ninth in the division in 2020–21 and winning the playoffs. Dumbarton also competed in the Scottish League Cup, Scottish Challenge Cup and the Scottish Cup. Story of the season May After ensuring the Sons avoided relegation via the playoffs, manager Jim Duffy departed the club by mutual consent on May 24 after two-and-a-half years in charge. Ross Forbes was next to depart, joining League Two side Stenhousemuir on May 26 and he was followed by Nat Wedderburn who also joined the Warriors. Defender Ryan McGeever however became the first player to commit his future to the club, signing a new two-year deal on May 27. Dumbarton F
Dumbarton (; also sco, Dumbairton; ) is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. In 2006, it had an estimated population of 19,990. Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Strathclyde, and later the county town of Dunbartonshire. Dumbarton Castle, on top of Dumbarton Rock, dominates the area. Dumbarton was a Royal burgh between 1222 and 1975. Dumbarton emerged from the 19th century as a centre for shipbuilding, glassmaking, and whisky production. Stenhousemuir F
Stenhousemuir (; gd, Featha Thaigh nan Clach) is a town in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies within the Falkirk council area of Scotland. The town is north-northwest of Falkirk and directly adjoins to Larbert in the west, where the nearest rail access is located. The villages of Carron and Carronshore adjoin Stenhousemuir to the east but to a lesser extent. At the 2001 census it showed that it had a resident population of 10,351 but according to a 2009 estimate this was revised to around 10,190 residents. The combined population of the four localities in 2011 was 24,722, representing about 15% of the Falkirk council area total. Andy Geggan
Andy Geggan (born 8 May 1987) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Drumchapel United. Geggan started his career with Livingston, and has also played with Dumbarton, Dunfermline Athletic, Partick Thistle, BSC Glasgow and had two spells at Ayr United. Career Geggan played for Livingston as a youth player before joining Dumbarton in 2006, where played there for five seasons making 164 appearances in all competitions scoring nine goals. Ruaridh Langan
Ruaridh Langan (born 15 June 1998) is a Scottish footballer who plays for club Auchinleck Talbot. Club career Langan came through the Greenock Morton youth academy, to rise to become the captain of the successful under-20 side and spent time on loan at Neilston. He made his first-team debut in a Scottish League Cup tie against Edinburgh City in July 2017. In late September 2018, Langan and team-mate Lewis Strapp joined Annan Athletic on a short-term development loan. Morgyn Neill (born 10 March 1996) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays a defender for Alloa Athletic. He has previously played for Motherwell, Livingston, Stranraer, Stenhousemuir, Dumbarton and Cove Rangers, as well as Ayr United and Stranraer on loan. Early life Neill was born on 10 March 1996, in Glasgow. He joined the Motherwell youth academy at a young age. Barry Smith (born 19 February 1974) is a Scottish football coach and former player who serves as an assistant coach with Canadian Premier League club York United. As a player, Smith played in the right back, centre back, and defensive midfielder roles for Celtic, Dundee, Valur, Partick Thistle, Greenock Morton and Brechin City. Smith was admitted into Dundee's Hall of Fame having made 400 appearances for the club. Smith played on loan for Brechin City while managing the Dundee under-19 side. He became Dundee first team manager in October 2010, when the club had entered financial administration. During this period, Smith led the team to a club record 23-game unbeaten streak in the league. Frank McKeown (born 18 August 1986) is a Scottish professional footballer and coach who played as a central defender. He has played for Stranraer, Raith, Partick Thistle, Greenock Morton, Alloa Athletic and junior club Arthurlie. McKeown is currently assistant manager at Scottish League Two side Dumbarton.
