2021–22 Dallas Stars Season
The 2021–22 Dallas Stars season was the 55th season for National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967, and the 29th season since the franchise relocated from Minnesota prior to the start of the 1993–94 NHL season. On April 27, 2022, the Stars clinched a playoff berth despite a 4–3 overtime loss to the Arizona Coyotes. Central Division (NHL)
The NHL's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2021 realignment. This is a list of seasons completed by the Dallas Stars team of the National Hockey League. This list documents the records and playoff results for all seasons the Stars have completed in the NHL since 1993. The franchise relocated in 1993 from Minnesota, where it was the Minnesota North Stars. Since moving to Dallas, the team has made the playoffs in seventeen of its twenty-eight seasons of play and have made five appearances in the Conference Finals, been to the Stanley Cup Finals three times and won the Stanley Cup once in 1999. The 2021–22 Los Angeles Kings season was the 55th season (54th season of play) for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. On April 26, 2022, the Kings clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2018 after the Dallas Stars defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in a shootout. They were defeated in the first round of the playoffs by the Edmonton Oilers, in seven games. During the season, the Kings' home arena Staples Center changed its name to Crypto.com Arena, effective December 25, 2021, as part of a new naming rights agreement. This season marked Dustin Brown's last, as he announced on April 28, 2022 his intention to retire following the playoffs. The 2021–22 Ottawa Senators season was the 30th season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators attempted to return to the Stanley Cup playoffs after failing to qualify for the past four seasons. The Senators returned to the Atlantic Division after playing in the North Division in 2020–21. Braden Holtby
Braden Holtby (born September 16, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He previously played for the Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks and Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the fourth round, 93rd overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Capitals, with whom he spent the first ten seasons of his career. After a couple years of development, Holtby became the Capitals' starting goaltender during the lockout-shortened 2012–13 season. Beginning during the 2014–15 season, Holtby won at least 40 games in three consecutive seasons. Anton Valerievich Khudobin (russian: Антон Валерьевич Худобин; born 7 May 1986) is a Kazakhstani-born Russian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). The 2021–22 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 95th season of play and their 96th season overall. The 2021–22 Arizona Coyotes season was the 43rd season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 26th season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 50th overall season, including the World Hockey Association years. The Coyotes returned to the Central Division for the 2021–22 season. The franchise was previously part of this division from the time of its formation in 1993 (when the team was still based in Manitoba) through to the end of its second season in Arizona in 1998.
