2021–22 CSA 4-Day Series
The 2021–22 CSA 4-Day Series is a first-class cricket competition that is taking place in South Africa from October 2021 to March 2022. It is the first edition of the post-franchise era, and the first edition to return to a two-division league format. Domestic cricketing reforms were introduced in 2020 that discontinued the six franchise team format, and announced a return to the more traditional provincial based system. Fifteen teams, split over the two divisions, now compete in the 4-Day Series. In Division 1, five of the six teams who competed in the 2020–21 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series opted to retain their franchise brand, with only the former Cape Cobras reverting to their traditional Western Province name. They were joined in Division 1 by Boland and North West. Matches featuring either Limpopo or Mpumalanga, both in Division 2, do not have first-class status. Dolphins are the defending champions. Cricket South Africa
Cricket South Africa (CSA) is the governing body for both professional and amateur cricket in South Africa. In 1991, the separate South African Cricket Union and the South African Cricket Board merged to form the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB), ending enforced racial separation governance in South African cricket. Cricket South Africa was formed in 2002, and initially ran parallel to the UCB, before becoming the sole governing body in 2008. Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares his team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the ''Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. Knights (cricket Team)
The ITEC Knights are a Division 1 cricket team representing the province of Free State in South African domestic competitions. The Knights take part in the CSA 4-Day Series first-class competition, the Momentum One-Day Cup and the Mzansi Super League T20 competition. The team's home venue is the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. History The Knights were originally established as an entirely professional franchise team following reforms that were carried out to the South African domestic leagues in 2004-05. Brad White (born 15 May 1970) is a South African cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer. He has umpired in matches in the 2015–16 Ram Slam T20 Challenge. Allahudien Paleker (born 1 January 1978) is a South African cricket umpire and former cricketer of Maharashtrian descent with roots tracing back to Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra, India. As an umpire, he has stood in matches in the 2015–16 Ram Slam T20 Challenge. He is part of Cricket South Africa's umpire panel for first-class matches. Newlands Cricket Ground (known as Six Gun Grill Newlands for sponsorship reasons) in Cape Town is a South African cricket ground. It is the home of the Cape Cobras, who play in the Sunfoil Series, Momentum 1 Day Cup and RamSlam Pro20 competitions. It is also a venue for Test matches, ODIs and T20Is. Newlands is regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world, being overlooked by Table Mountain and Devil's Peak. Daryn Miles Dupavillon (born 15 July 1994) is a South African cricketer who represents KwaZulu-Natal and Pretoria Capitals. He is a right-arm fast bowler who bats right-handed. Mohammad Yaseen Vallie, or otherwise known as Yaseen Vallie (born 30 July 1989) is a South African cricketer who plays for the Warriors. Career Vallie was selected to play for South Africa in the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup as an all-rounder. He took 5 wickets in the six matches he played in, as well as scoring 54 runs at a meager average of 13.50. Vallie signed up with the Western Province soon after the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup and made an impression as a reliable right-handed batsman as well as a partnership-breaking off-spin bowler. Follow-on
In the game of cricket, a team who batted second and scored significantly fewer runs than the team who batted first may be forced to follow-on: to take their second innings immediately after their first. The follow-on can be enforced by the team who batted first, and is intended to reduce the probability of a drawn result, by allowing the second team's second innings to be completed sooner. The follow-on occurs only in those forms of cricket where each team normally bats twice: notably in domestic first class cricket and international Test cricket. In these forms of cricket, a team cannot win a match unless at least three innings have been completed. Bryce Parsons (born 13 February 2001) is a South African cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut for Gauteng in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial T20 Cup on 14 September 2019. Wayne Dillon Parnell (born 30 July 1989) is a South African professional cricketer who most recently played for Northamptonshire in English county cricket. Previously, Parnell played Test cricket, One Day International cricket and Twenty20 matches for South Africa.
