2021–22 America East Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2021–22 America East Conference men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 9, 2021, and began conference play on January 2, 2022. The regular season ended on March 1, 2022, followed by the 2022 America East men's basketball tournament held March 6–12, 2022. The Vermont Catamounts finished atop conference standings and also won the conference tournament. Conference Schedule Each team is scheduled to play 18 conference games. Each team will play every team twice, once at home and once on the road. College Basketball
In United States colleges, top-tier basketball is governed by collegiate athletic bodies including National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). John Gallagher (basketball)
John Gallagher (born May 27, 1977) is the head men's basketball coach at Manhattan College. He previously served as the head coach at the University of Hartford from 2010 until 2022. Career Assistant coach Gallagher started his coaching career working as an assistant at Lafayette College and La Salle University. From 2006 to 2008 Gallagher worked as associate head coach under Dan Leibovitz, helping the Hawks to their first appearance in the America East Championship game in 2008. Hartford lost the game to UMBC 64–50. Gallagher left Hartford in 2008, and spent two years as an assistant coach under Glen Miller with the Penn Quakers. John Becker (basketball)
John Becker (born April 17, 1968) is an American college basketball coach, currently the head coach of the Vermont Catamounts men's basketball, Vermont Catamounts of the America East Conference. He replaced Mike Lonergan, who left to become the coach at George Washington University. On January 5, 2023, Becker became the winningest coach in Vermont history, with a 74–64 win over Bryant Bulldogs, Bryant, surpassing Tom Brennan. Stony Brook Seawolves Men's Basketball
The Stony Brook Seawolves men's basketball team is the college basketball program representing Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. The Seawolves compete at the NCAA Division I level, which they have done so since 1999, and are a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. The team is coached by former Kent State head coach Geno Ford after former head coach, longtime Ohio State assistant Jeff Boals, resigned to accept the head coaching job at his alma mater Ohio University. Geno Ford
Gene A. "Geno" Ford (born October 11, 1974) is an American college basketball coach and former college and professional basketball player. He is currently the men's head coach for the Stony Brook Seawolves, a position he has held since 2019. He was previously the head coach at Shawnee State University, Muskingum University (then Muskingum College), Kent State University (2008–2011) and Bradley University (2011–2015). Brian Kennedy is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the NJIT Highlanders men's basketball team. Playing career Kennedy grew up in Rumson, New Jersey and attended Christian Brothers Academy. In college, Kennedy his playing career with Princeton before transferring and completing his college career at Monmouth. Coaching career Upon graduation, Kennedy took over his family's basketball business, The Hoop Group, one of the largest instructional basketball camps in the United States. He stayed in that role until 1997 when he joined the staff at DePaul as an assistant until 2002. From 2002 to 2009, Kennedy left coaching and worked in the financial sector. The East Carolina Pirates men's basketball team represents East Carolina University in NCAA Division I college basketball and competes in the American Athletic Conference. William Richard Herrion (born April 6, 1958) is an American college basketball coach. Since 2005, he has been the men's head coach with the University of New Hampshire. Prior to coming to UNH, he served as the head coach at East Carolina University and Drexel University. Pat Duquette (born November 4, 1970) is the head men's basketball coach at UMass Lowell. He is the first coach in the school's Division I history, as the River Hawks joined the America East Conference for the 2013–14 season. The Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing the Pennsylvania State University.
