2021 World Para Athletics European Championships
The 2021 World Para Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe and a refugee team with one athlete. This was the 7th edition of the event. This was also the first time that the event was held in Poland. Around 670 athletes competed at the event. History The event was originally scheduled to be held between 3 and 7 June 2020. On 26 March 2020, it was announced that the event would be postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in June it was confirmed that the postponement would be until 2021. Alexey Bychenok (born 31 July 1986) is a Russian male cross-country skier and biathlete who is also engaged with the Paralympic athletics. He represented Russia at the 2014 Winter Paralympics and competed in the biathlon events. Alexey claimed his first Paralympic medal for Russia after claiming a silver medal in the men's middle sitting event during the 2014 Winter Paralympics. Zachary Shaw
Zachary "Zac" Shaw (born 24 September 1995) is a British visually impaired sprinter who competes in the T12 and T13 disability classifications. At the age of nine he became afflicted with stargardt disease. In 2013 he started training for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro but was ultimately unsuccessful. In 2014 Shaw won silver in both 100 metres and 200 metres at the UK School Games. In 2015 he made his international debut in the Berlin IPC Grand Prix where he won bronze. Later that year he made his first Great Britain squad for the IPC Athletics World Championships, where he finished sixth in both the 100 metres and 200 metres. Sophie Kamlish (born 20 August 1996) is a British Paralympic athlete who competes in sprint events in T44 events. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and 2016 Summer Paralympics. Early life Kamlish was born in Camden, London in 1996. She was born with a right foot that was severely turned in, for which a splint was fitted to straighten it. Despite this her right leg was significantly shorter than her left and when Kamlish was nine her doctors suggested the fitting of a gradual extension frame to lengthen her leg. Kamlish was already in significant pain and there was no guarantee that the frame would work so she and her family opted for a below the knee amputation. Sophie Megan Hahn, (born 23 January 1997) is a parasport athlete from England competing mainly in T38 sprint events. Mandy François-Élie (born 27 September 1989) is a French Paralympian athlete competing in the category T37. François-Élie won the T37 100m sprint at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games at London and followed this with both the 100m and 200m titles at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon. Career history François-Élie was born on the island of Martinique in 1989. She became interested in athletics at a young age and competed while in school. In 2008, while leaving school, she suffered a stroke which put her into a coma. On recovery it was discovered that she had suffered permanent motor damage.
