2021 Wisconsin Elections
The 2021 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 6, 2021. There was one statewide race—for Superintendent of Public Instruction. Additionally, two special elections occurred for the Wisconsin State Senate and Wisconsin State Assembly, as well as other nonpartisan local and judicial elections. The 2021 Spring primary was held on February 16, 2021. An additional special election for the 37th Assembly district was held on July 13, 2021. In the election for Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Democrats' preferred candidate, Jill Underly, prevailed. Republicans, however, won both special elections for the Wisconsin Legislature, and Republicans' preferred candidates won both contested elections for the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Wisconsin
Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is the 25th-largest state by total area and the 20th-most populous. Wisconsin Senate, District 13
The 13th Senate District of Wisconsin is one of 33 districts in the Wisconsin State Senate. Located in south central Wisconsin, the district comprises most of Dodge County, the northern half of Jefferson County, and parts of eastern and northeastern Dane County. It includes the cities of Beaver Dam, Columbus, Horicon, Lake Mills, Mayville, Oconomowoc, and Watertown. Current elected officials John Jagler is the senator representing the 13th district. Wisconsin Circuit Courts
The Wisconsin circuit courts are the general trial courts in the state of Wisconsin. There are currently 69 circuits in the state, divided into 10 judicial administrative districts. Circuit court judges hear and decide both civil and criminal cases. Each of the 249 circuit court judges are elected and serve six-year terms. On March 6, 2020, Governor Tony Evers signed bipartisan legislation to create 12 new circuit court branches, with four seats to be added each year from 2021 to 2023. Structure of the circuit courts The circuit court system is composed of 69 circuits, with 66 circuits serving a single county, and three circuits serving two counties each. Muskego, Wisconsin
Muskego () is a city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 24,135. Muskego is the fifth largest community in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Muskego has a large Norwegian population. The name Muskego is derived from the Potawatomi Indian name for the area, "Mus-kee-Guaac", meaning sunfish. The Potawatomi were the original inhabitants of Muskego. There are three lakes within the city's boundaries. History The history of Muskego started originally as the home of the Potawatomi, who named it "Mus-kee-Guaac", which means "sunfish". The first European came in 1827 and a few years later (1833), the Potawatomi tribe ceded their lands in Wisconsin to the United States government. Shelley Grogan
Shelley Ann Grogan (born August 14, 1967) is an American lawyer and judge, currently serving on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Waukesha-based District II court. She previously served as a municipal judge in Muskego, Wisconsin. Biography Grogan received her bachelor's degree from Marquette University in 1989, and went directly into Marquette University Law School, where she earned her J.D. in 1992. Early in her legal career, she worked as a clerk to three judges of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, Ted Wedemeyer, Ralph Adam Fine, and Rebecca Bradley. When Judge Bradley was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 2015, Grogan went with her as a judicial assistant. A resident of Muskego for 25 years, she was appointed municipal judge in 2020. Maxine Aldridge White
Maxine Aldridge White (born 1951) is an American attorney and judge. She is a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Milwaukee-based District I court, serving since 2020. She is the first African-American woman to serve on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. White previously served 18 years as a Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge in Milwaukee County, and was chief judge for the 1st Judicial Administrative District from 2015 until her appointment to the Court of Appeals in 2020. William Penterman
William L. Penterman (born May 18, 1996) is an American dairy farmer and Republican politician. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 37th Assembly district since July 26, 2021. Biography Penterman was born and raised in Wisconsin, working on his family's dairy farm. He attended Ripon College, and while there founded Ripon College's chapter of Young Americans for Freedom—a Conservative youth organization. Penterman served in the United States Army from 2015 through 2019, in the Military Police Corps, and continues to serve in the United States Army Reserve.
