2021 W Series Spielberg Round
The 2021 W Series Spielberg round was the first round of seven in the 2021 W Series, and took place at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on 26 June 2021. The event was an undercard to the 2021 Formula One World Championship round at the same circuit. Report Background Six new drivers entered the championship having successfully applied for entry into the cancelled 2020 season – Ayla Ågren, Abbie Eaton, Belén García, Nerea Martí, Irina Sidorkova and Bruna Tomaselli. 2021 W Series
The 2021 W Series was the second season of the W Series motor racing championship, replacing the 2020 season after it was cancelled due of the COVID-19 pandemic. The championship was exclusively open to female racing drivers as a Formula 3-level racing series in support of the 2021 Formula One World Championship. Jamie Chadwick entered the season as the defending W Series champion, having won the title in 2019. Chadwick secured her second consecutive championship, winning the 2021 title at the season finale race, at Circuit of the Americas. Entries The following drivers and teams made up the grid for the 2021 W Series season. Irina Antonovna Sidorkova ( rus, Ири́на Анто́новна Сидорко́ва; born 27 June 2003 in Petrozavodsk), also known as Ira Sidorkova, is a Russian racing driver. She has competed in the W Series and the F3 Asian Championship. Biography Sidorkova began karting aged six, having been inspired to race by the film ''Cars''. Having competed across Northern Russia and the Baltics with success – including an Estonian championship in 2012 – she moved into rallying aged 11 and touring car racing through the Russian Circuit Racing Series aged 13, both opportunities coming through Volkswagen. Veloce Racing is a British motor racing team founded by Jean-Éric Vergne, Adrian Newey and Rupert Svendsen-Cook that competes in the all-electric off-road racing championship Extreme E and formerly in the all-female single-seater racing series, W Series. Extreme E 2021 Veloce joined Extreme E for its inaugural season in 2021, announcing 2019 W Series champion Jamie Chadwick and former F1 and WRC driver Stéphane Sarrazin as their line-up. Hitech Grand Prix (formerly known as Hitech Racing) is a British motor racing team. It was founded in 2002 by Dennis Rushen and David Hayle. The team started racing in the British Formula 3 Championship in 2003. The team also competed in the South American Formula Three Series, namely the Formula 3 Sudamericana. Double R Racing is a motor racing team, which races in Formula Three and other junior levels of formula racing including the MSA Formula Championship for the 2016 season. Naomi Schiff
Naomi Schiff (born 18 May 1994) is a Rwandan and Belgian racing driver and television presenter. She was born in Belgium, to a Belgian father and Rwandan mother, grew up in South Africa, and now lives in the United Kingdom. In 2020, Schiff was appointed as the diversity and inclusion ambassador for the W Series, and in 2022 she became a presenter for Sky Sports. 2021 F4 British Championship
The 2021 F4 British Championship was a multi-event, Formula 4 open-wheel single seater motor racing championship held across United Kingdom. The championship featured a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers, competing in Formula 4 cars that conformed to the technical regulations for the championship. This, the seventh season, following on from the British Formula Ford Championship, was the seventh year that the cars conformed to the FIA's Formula 4 regulations. Part of the TOCA tour, it formed part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centrepiece. Abbi Pulling (born 21 March 2003) is a British racing driver. She currently competes for Racing X in the W Series, and is a member of the Alpine Affiliate programme. Career Karting Pulling started karting competitively in 2013 at the age of 9. She mainly developed her karting career in Britain, winning the Super 1 National Junior TKM Championship twice in 2017 and 2018. Ginetta Juniors and GT5 Challenge Pulling began her racing career in early 2018, taking part in the first three rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship for Total Control Racing, with little success. Małgorzata Agnieszka Łazarczyk ( née Rdest, born 14 January 1993 in Żyrardów) is a Polish female racing driver and businesswoman. She currently competes in the Alpine Elf Europa Cup. Racing career Rdest entered car racing in 2012 when she, as reigning Polish Junior Karting Champion, was scouted by BMW Motorsport. They would enter her in the final round of the Formula BMW Talent Cup for rookie drivers at Oschersleben, where she would finish all three races in the top 10 and finish 10th in the standings despite only entering the one event. Caitlin Wood (born 15 January 1997 in Maitland, New South Wales) is an Australian female racing driver who last competed in the 2021 W Series. Biography Hailing from Tenambit in the New South Wales Hunter Valley, Wood began her professional motorsport career in 2013 in a state-level Formula Ford championship. She ended her debut in car racing 5th out of 7 in the championship. She subsequently moved up to the inaugural Australian Formula Ford Championship in 2015, however she struggled to 21st in the championship with only three points finishes.
