The UCI Road World Championships – Men's time trial, Men's time trial of the 2021 UCI Road World Championships was a cycling event that took place on 19 September 2021 in Flanders, Belgium. It was the 28th edition of the championship, for which Filippo Ganna of Italy is the defending champion, having won in 2020 UCI Road World Championships – Men's time trial, 2020. Ganna retained his title after beating Belgian riders Wout van Aert and Remco Evenepoel. Participating nations 58 cyclists from 39 nations competed in the event. Rainbow Jersey
The rainbow jersey is the distinctive jersey worn by the reigning world champion in a cycling discipline, since 1927. The jersey is predominantly white with five horizontal bands in the UCI colours around the chest. From the bottom up the colours are: green, yellow, black, red and blue; the same colours that appear in the rings on the Olympic flag. The tradition is applied to all disciplines, including road racing, track racing, cyclo-cross, BMX, Trials and the disciplines within mountain biking. A world champion must wear the jersey when competing in the same discipline, category and speciality for which the title was won. For example, the world road race champion would wear the garment while competing in stage races (except for time trial stages) and one-day races, but would not be entitled to wear it during time trials. Hugo Houle (born 27 September 1990) is a Canadian professional cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Sainte-Perpétue, Centre-du-Québec, Quebec, Houle began racing triathlons, aged 10, alongside his brother, before focussing on cycling at the age of 16. Gregory Lawson Craddock (born February 20, 1992) is an American professional road and track racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is known for his achievement in finishing the 2018 Tour de France despite being seriously injured in the opening stage, and for raising funds for a hurricane-damaged velodrome as a result. Daniel John Bigham (born 2 October 1991) is a British racing cyclist, who rode for UCI Continental team from 2018 until 2021. He rode in the men's individual pursuit event at the 2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
