The 2021 Sunshine Ladies Tour was the 8th season of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women based in South Africa. Schedule The condensed season consisted of 6 events, all held in South Africa, played in April and May, after having been postponed from February–March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Investec South African Women's Open was again co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour, and also a qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Women's Open. Lee-Anne Pace
Lee-Anne Pace (born 15 February 1981) is a South African professional golfer. Career Pace was born in Paarl, Western Cape. She had a successful amateur collegiate career in the United States, where she attended Murray State University and the University of Tulsa, graduating with a degree in psychology. Having turned professional in 2005, Pace played on the second tier Duramed Futures Tour in 2006 before qualifying for the LPGA Tour for 2007 at qualifying school. Having lost her card in the United States at the end of 2007, she qualified for the Ladies European Tour for 2008 via qualifying school. She made her breakthrough in 2010 with five wins at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open, the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe, the Finnair Masters, the Sanya Ladies Open, and the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open. Glendower Golf Club
The Glendower Golf Club is an 18-hole golf complex located in Edenvale, Gauteng, South Africa. The course has been the home of the South African Open for eight competitions. Englishman Chris Paisley won his first European Tour title winning the 2018 SA Open. Englishman Graeme Storm won the 2017 SA Open beating Rory McIlroy in a play-off while South African golfer Brandon Stone won the 2016 SA Open. History In 1935, ten businessmen formed a company with an idea to create a country club and purchased the farm Glendower which in those days was on the edge to the town of Edenvale. The land bought was 266.7 acres in size and consisted mostly of a tree plantation. A parkland course was planned and an English golfing architect, Charles Hugh Alison, was employed to design the course and it was constructed by A.F.Tomsett. The course would open on 7 March 1937. Marianne Skarpnord (born 11 February 1986) is a Norwegian professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour. Amateur career As a junior, Skarpnord was considered one of the biggest talents in Norwegian golf. In 2003, she won the Girls Amateur Championship, defeating Beatriz Recari of Spain in the final match. She also won the Junior Solheim Cup with Europe the same year. Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am
The Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am is a women's professional golf tournament held in Western Cape, South Africa. It is an event on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Ladies Tour since 2014, played concurrently with the men's Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour. The professional golfers are teamed with an amateur and together they compete for the Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am trophy. They compete using the Better Ball Medal scoring system with the amateur handicaps taken into account. Except for 2015 when the event was hosted at Oubaai Golf Resort & Spa, the tournament has been played over three days on two different golf courses, the first two rounds at George Golf Club, with the third and final round at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club. Casandra Alexander (née Hall, born 13 August 1999) is a South African professional golfer playing on the Ladies European Tour. In 2020, she won the team event at the Saudi Ladies Team International. She competed as Casandra Hall until her marriage to Adrian Alexander, a bodybuilder, in 2022. The Jabra Ladies Classic is a women's professional golf tournament held at Glendower Golf Club near Johannesburg, South Africa. It has been an event on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Ladies Tour since 2014.
