2021 Singhu Border Lynching
The 2021 Singhu border lynching refers to the lynching incident that occurred in the early hours of 15 October 2021 at Delhi's Singhu border, resulting in the death of Lakhbir Singh, a Dalit Sikh from Tarn Taran district of Punjab, India. The murder began with the victim's hand and a leg being chopped off, and later his body was hanged on a barricade near the farmers’ protest site. A Nihang Sikh group took responsibility for the lynching and killing, claiming that the man committed sacrilege of their holy scripture. A Nihang accepted his role in the murder, and surrendered on the same day. The second accused, who also belongs to the Nihang group, was arrested by the Amritsar police. After being taken into the police custody, the second accused claimed that he had surrendered before the police. Singhu is a village in the North West Delhi district of the National Capital Region (India). It borders the Haryana state, and became popular during the Indian farmers protest of 2020/2021 when the Indian government erected walls to prevent Haryana protestors from reaching Delhi. The 2021 lynchings in Punjab, India refers to the widely reported lynching incidents that occurred between December 18-19, 2021, at two Sikh temples in Punjab, India in which enraged mobs killed 2 men in response to alleged acts of sacrilege. Lynching incidents First Incident (18 December) The first incident took place on December 18, 2021 at the Amritsar Golden Temple, the holiest shrine for Sikhs, when a man barged into the inner sanctum, where Sikhism's holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, is kept. Lynching Of Jagmael Singh
On 7 November 2019, 37-year old Jagmael Singh was mob lynched in Sangrur, Punjab, India. He was brutally beaten by four men and was forced to drink human urine. He died after 9 days of treatment in Chandigarh. He was a construction worker and was accused of a fight with one of the accused of the case, Rinku over the matter of sitting with them in a Panchayati of upper caste. It was said that he was taken to the Rinku's house, where he was tied and brutally lynched and tortured by the four men. His death was a major issue and many Dalit groups protested on the matter of his killing and demanded severe most punishment for the accused.
