2021 Russian Gubernatorial Elections
Gubernatorial elections in 2021 were held on a single-voting day, September 19, along with the 2021 Russian legislative election, elections to the 8th State Duma, Russia's lower house. Offices of the heads of 12 constituent entities of the Federation were contested. By decision of the Central Election Commission of Russia, voting was held for three days in a row — September 17, 18, and 19, 2021. List Direct elections All incumbent governors have won. Artyom Alekseyevich Zdunov (russian: Артём Алексеевич Здунов; born 18 May 1978), is a Russian statesman and politician, who is currently the 3rd Head of the Republic of Mordovia since 29 September 2021. Sergey Ivanovich Morozov (russian: Сергей Иванович Морозов; born 6 September 1959, Ulyanovsk) is a Russian politician who is currently a member of parliament of the State Duma. He had served as the 3rd governor of Ulyanovsk Oblast in Russia from 6 January 2005 until 8 April 2021. He was elected in 2004; his term started in 2005. After completing military service in the Soviet Pacific Fleet in 1980 he graduated from the All Union Juristic Institute in 1981. Between 1981 and 2000 he worked for the Ministry of the Interior in the Ulyanovsk Oblast later becoming head of the local Drug Enforcement Department. 2021 Ulyanovsk Oblast Gubernatorial Election
The 2021 Ulyanovsk Oblast gubernatorial election took place on 17–19 September 2021, on common election day, coinciding with election to the State Duma. Acting Governor Aleksey Russkikh was elected for his first full term. Background Governor Sergey Morozov was first elected in 2004 and as of 2021 was the longest serving incumbent Russian Governor. Morozov won his last gubernatorial election in 2016 with just 54.34% of the vote, simultaneously his challenger from CPRF Alexey Kurinny won in Ulyanovsk single-mandate constituency.
