2021 Ottawa Redblacks Season
The 2021 Ottawa Redblacks season was the seventh season for the team in the Canadian Football League. The Redblacks were eliminated from postseason contention following their week 10 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on October 23, 2021. This was the second straight season that the Redblacks failed to qualify for the playoffs. This was the first season for Paul LaPolice as the team's head coach and the seventh season with Marcel Desjardins as general manager, until his dismissal on October 25, 2021. An 18-game season schedule was originally released on November 20, 2020, but it was announced on April 21, 2021 that the start of the season would likely be delayed until August and feature a 14-game schedule. On June 15, 2021, the league released the revised 14-game schedule with regular season play beginning on August 5, 2021. East Division (CFL)
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Several now-defunct teams have also played in the East Division including two teams from the United States and a large number of teams that have played in Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa prior to the current teams from those cities. Anthony Jean Herve Mahoungou (born 12 February 1994) is a French professional gridiron football wide receiver for the Rhein Fire of the European League of Football (ELF). He most recently played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He has also played for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL), the Frankfurt Universe of the German Football League (GFL), and the Frankfurt Galaxy of the ELF. Defensive Back
In gridiron football, defensive backs (DBs), also called the secondary, are the players on the defensive side of the ball who play farthest back from the line of scrimmage. They are distinguished from the other two sets of defensive players, the defensive linemen who play directly on the line of scrimmage, and the linebackers, who play in the middle of the defense, between the defensive line and the defensive backs. Tony Anderson (gridiron Football)
Thomas Garfield Anderson (31 January 1942 – 1 April 2020), known as Tony Anderson, was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the VFL The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It ... during the 1960s. Anderson made his VFL debut with Melbourne in 1963 and would form an important part of their defence throughout the rest of the decade. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. North Dakota Fighting Hawks Football
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks represent the University of North Dakota, competing as a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) in the NCAA Division I's Football Championship Subdivision. From 1973 to 2008, they played in the NCAA's NCAA Division II, winning the National Championship in 2001. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. Tyron Vrede (born 18 September 1996) is a Dutch professional gridiron football linebacker for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was the tenth overall pick by the Redblacks in the 2021 CFL Global Draft. Early life Vrede grew up playing association football in his hometown of Amsterdam, describing himself as a physical player, but got interested in American football after he was gifted a copy of the video game Madden 2000 for the PlayStation.
