2021 Old Dominion Monarchs Baseball Team
The 2021 Old Dominion Monarchs baseball team represented Old Dominion University in the sport of baseball for the 2021 college baseball season. The Monarchs competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and in Conference USA East Division. They played their home games at Bud Metheny Baseball Complex, on the university's Norfolk campus. The team was coached by Chris Finwood, who was in his tenth season with the Monarchs. Preseason C-USA media poll The Conference USA preseason poll was released on February 11, 2021, with the Monarchs predicted to finish in second place in the East Division. Chris Finwood
Chris Finwood (born January 20, 1966) is an American baseball coach and former shortstop, who is the current head baseball coach of the Old Dominion Monarchs. He played college baseball at the Virginia Military Institute for coaches Donny White and Paul Maini from 1985 to 1988. He then served as the head coach of the VMI Keydets (1992–1994) and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (2006–2011) Finwood has coached 61 players who were selected in the MLB Players Draft including 3 major leaguers. VMI Finwood was a standout shortstop at VMI, where he was named to the SoCon's All-North Division team three times. His .399 batting average remains sixth in school history. 2021 VCU Rams Baseball Team
The 2021 VCU Rams baseball team represented Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Rams played their home games at The Diamond as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They were led by head coach Shawn Stiffler, in his 9th season at VCU. VCU qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015, and received their highest seeding (2) since 2001. They were eliminated in the Regional, with a final record of 38–16, including a program record 22-game win streak. Davenport Field at Disharoon Park is a baseball stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is the home field of the University of Virginia Cavaliers college baseball team. Kennedy Center Field
Kennedy Center Field is a community baseball field at the Kennedy Center YMCA recreation camp on West Virginia Route 2 about north of Huntington, West Virginia. The field is used by the Marshall University baseball team. The field had almost no provisions for spectators, and limited locker rooms, in 2014, the university funded an upgrade with some spectator facilities and an artificial turf infield, but the field remains unlighted. The upgrades were accompanied with a five-year lease from the school. Because of its inadequacies, Marshall played all conference home games at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, from campus. For the 2019 season, the university funded further upgrades which allowed all its games to be played at the venue.
