2021 Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship
The 2021 Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship was the fourth staging of the Offaly Senior B Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Offaly County Board. The group stage fixtures were confirmed on 27 May 2021. The championship ran from 28 August to 20 November 2021. The final was played on 20 November 2021 at St Brendan's Park in Birr, between Clodiagh Gaels and Tullamore, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Clodiagh Gaels won the match by 2–10 to 1–12 to claim their first ever championship title. Birr, County Offaly
Birr (; ga, Biorra, meaning "plain of water") is a town in County Offaly, Ireland. Between 1620 and 1899 it was called Parsonstown, after the Parsons family who were local landowners and hereditary Earls of Rosse. Birr is a designated Irish ''Heritage Town'' with a carefully preserved Georgian heritage. Birr itself has graceful wide streets and elegant buildings. Many of the houses in John's Place and Oxmantown Mall have exquisite fanlight windows of the Georgian period. Offaly Senior Hurling Championship
The Offaly Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Molloy Environmental Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition contested by top-tier Offaly GAA clubs. The Offaly County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1896. Shinrone are the title holders (2022) defeating Kilcormac–Killoughey in the Final. History The title has been won at least once by 12 different teams. The all-time record-holders are Coolderry, who have won a total of 31 titles. Since the beginning, the championship has been dominated by Coolderry, Birr, Drumcullen and St Rynagh's. They have won a combined total of 90 of the 124 championship titles. Coolderry dominated the first twenty years of the championship, winning eleven titles between 1889 and 1917. Offaly Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Offaly Intermediate Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by mid-tier Offaly GAA clubs. The Offaly County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1929. The national media covers the competition. Shamrocks are the title holders (2022) defeating Seir Kieran in the Final, after a replay. History The intermediate championship dates back to 1929. It was the third hurling championship to be established in Ofaly, and was seen as a stepping stone between the senior and junior hurling championships. Over the years the championship proved difficult to sustain. There were no finals in 1940 and 1941, while the 1949 decider was declared void. St Brendan's Park
St Brendan's Park () is a GAA stadium in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. It is one of the main grounds of Offaly's Gaelic football and hurling teams. The ground has a capacity of 8,800. Prior to the development of O'Connor Park in Tullamore, the ground was the base of Offaly hurling and played host to intercounty competitions and to the Offaly hurling county final. Most Offaly games have since transferred to Tullamore. Saint Brendan's Park is the home ground of the town’s GAA club. It is located on the south side of the town on Railway Road. The site was also the venue of the 1971 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Tipperary and Galway. 15,022 crammed into the venue to watch Tipperary see off Galway in a high scoring match. Clodiagh Gaels GAA
Clodiagh Gaels is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Killeigh, County Offaly, Ireland. The club fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Killeigh, on the Laois- Offaly border, Clodiagh Gaels GAA Club was founded in 2015 following an amalgamation between Killeigh and Killurin. Both clubs had already united at juvenile and underage levels as Na Fianna, however, dwindling player numbers forced the clubs to join up at adult level. The new club initially operated at intermediate level in hurling and at junior level in football. Success was immediate, with Clodiagh Gaels winning an Offaly IHC and JAHC double in 2016.
