The 59th New York Film Festival took place from September 24 to October 10, 2021. Unlike the 2020 New York Film Festival, which was staged online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 festival returned to physical screenings at the Lincoln Center. Joel Coen's ''The Tragedy of Macbeth'' was announced as the opening film with Pedro Almodóvar's ''Parallel Mothers'' announced as the closing film. Avi Mograbi ( he, אבי מוגרבי; born May 9, 1956) is an Israeli documentary filmmaker. Life and career Mograbi's grandfather founded The Mograbi Cinema ''(Kolnoa Mograbi)'', an Art Deco movie theatre in downtown Tel Aviv. Opened in 1930, it was probably Israel's most famous movie theater. is a Japanese film director and screenwriter. An alumnus of the University of Tokyo and the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, he started getting attention in his home country with the graduate film ''Passion'' (2008). Michelangelo Frammartino (born 1968) is an Italian filmmaker. Biography Michelangelo Frammartino was born in Milan to Calabrian parents in 1968. In 1991 he enrolled in the Architecture Faculty of the Politecnico di Milano. Between 1994 and 1997 he attended Milan's film school, Civica Scuola del Cinema, for which he produced videoart installations and worked as a set designer for films and video clips.
