2021 New Brunswick Municipal Elections
Municipal elections were held in the Canadian province of New Brunswick on May 10, 2021. They were originally supposed to be held May 11, 2020, but were postponed one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic in New Brunswick. Furthermore, elections in some municipalities in Northwestern New Brunswick will be held on May 25 due to those areas being under lockdown. Elections will also be held for district education councils and regional health authorities (Horizon Health Network and Vitalité Health Network), plus there are two plebiscites (annexation of the town and parish of Saint-Quentin and allowing people to own hens for non-commercial purposes in Blacks Harbour). Edmundston
Edmundston is a city in Madawaska County, New Brunswick, Canada. On 1 January 2023, Edmundston will expanded, annexing the village of Rivière-Verte and parts of the local service districts of the parish of Saint-Jacques and the parish of Saint-Joseph. History During the early colonial period, the area was a camping and meeting place of the Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) Nation during seasonal migrations. From the mid to late eighteenth century, one of the largest Maliseet villages had been established at Madawaska and had become a refuge site for other Wabanaki peoples. The Maliseet village was originally located near the falls at the confluence of the Madawaska and Saint John Rivers. Currently, the City of Edmundston surrounds a federal Indian Reserve (St. Basile 10/Madawaska Maliseet First Nation). Rothesay, New Brunswick
Rothesay () is a town located in Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada. It is adjacent to the City of Saint John along the Kennebecasis River. Geography Located along the lower Kennebecasis River valley, Rothesay borders the city of Saint John to the southwest, and the neighbouring town of Quispamsis to the northeast. It is served by a secondary mainline of the Canadian National Railway, though there is no longer any passenger service on the line. Quispamsis
Quispamsis (, sometimes shortened to ) is a Kings County suburb of Saint John, New Brunswick, located to the northeast in the lower Kennebecasis River valley. Its population was 18,768 as of the 2021 census. History The original inhabitants of the area were the Maliseet First Nation, part of the Wabenaki Confederacy. The Moncton City Council (french: Conseil municipal de Moncton) is the governing body of the City of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
