The 2021 Mobile mayoral election was held on August 24, 2021, to elect the mayor of Mobile, Alabama. Incumbent Republican mayor Sandy Stimpson was re-elected to a third term. Sandy Stimpson
William S. "Sandy" Stimpson (born April 4, 1952) is an American businessman and politician who serves as the current mayor of Mobile, Alabama. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected August 27, 2013, defeating incumbent Democratic Mayor Sam Jones. In 2017, Stimpson was reelected over Jones in a rematch. In 2021, he defeated Fred Richardson and Karlos Finley with 62.5% of the vote. Personal life Stimpson is a 1970 graduate of University Military School, now known as UMS-Wright. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1975, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity. In 2017, Stimpson was found to be a paying member of the Comic Cowboys Mardi Gras group, a group which paraded with posters including derogatory remarks toward Black leaders and communities in the Mobile area.
