2021 Loudoun United FC Season
The 2021 Loudoun United FC season was Loudoun United FC's third season of existence, their third in the second-division of American soccer, and their third in the USL Championship. Club Roster Competitions Exhibitions USL Championship The USLC realigned itself to place the current 31 teams into four regional divisions, with Loudoun in the Atlantic Division. Loudoun would play its divisional rivals four times each (evenly split between home and away matches), with the remaining four games against non-division teams. Atlantic Division U.S. Open Cup Due to their ownership by a higher division professional club (D.C. United), LUFC is one of 15 teams expressly forbidden from entering the Cup competition. Loudoun United FC is an American professional soccer team based in Leesburg, Virginia. The team was founded in 2018 as the reserve team of D.C. United and made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. History On July 18, 2018, the team was officially announced by USL and D.C. United as were the team's name, colors and crest. Loudoun United FC replaced Richmond Kickers as D.C. United's USL affiliate. Colors and badge Loudoun United FC colors are black, red and white, the same as parent club D.C. United. The club's crest contains the red-and-white gyronny seen in the flag and coat of arms of Loudoun County, as well as a winged horse in homage to both D.C. United's eagle logo and the county's long association with equestrian sports. Sponsorship Stadium The club plays at Segra Field, a new 5,000-seat stadium at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park in Leesburg. Leesburg is a town in the state of Virginia, and the county seat of Loudoun County. Settlement in the area began around 1740, which is named for the Lee family, early leaders of the town and ancestors of Robert E. Lee. New York Red Bulls II is an American professional soccer team based in Montclair, New Jersey. They are the reserve team of the New York Red Bulls and play in MLS Next Pro, the third tier in the American soccer pyramid. History Red Bull New York II were founded on January 21, 2015, when the New York Red Bulls acquired the rights to start a USL club. Riccardo Silva Stadium is a college football and soccer stadium on the campus of Florida International University (FIU) in Westchester, Florida. It is home stadium of the FIU Panthers football team and the Miami FC soccer team from the USL Championship. The stadium opened in 1995 and has a seating capacity of 20,000. Abdoul Kairou Amoustapha (born 1 January 2001) is a Nigerien footballer who currently plays for Cancún in the Liga de Expansión MX. Career Amoustapha moved from ASN Nigelec to USL Championship side Loudoun United on 20 February 2020. He made his debut on 2 August 2020, starting against Hartford Athletic in a 1–4 loss. Samson "Sammy" Sergi (born July 2, 1996) is an American soccer player who is currently without a club. Career College Sergi played four years of college soccer at the Xavier between 2015 and 2019, where he made 67 appearances, scored 29 goals and tallied five assists. Adonijah Reid (born August 13, 1999) is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays for Pacific FC in the Canadian Premier League. Early life Reid began playing youth soccer with Caledon SC, in 2005. Afterwards, he joined ANB Futbol Academy, where he played for six years. In 2014 and 2015, he had trials with French clubs OGC Nice and Lyon, and also had trials with clubs in Italy and Spain. However, as he was not a European citizen, he was unable to remain in Europe. Christiano François (born July 17, 1993) is a Haitian professional footballer who plays as a winger for the Rio Grande Valley FC in the USL Championship and for the Haiti national team.
