2021 Kelly Cup Playoffs
The 2021 Kelly Cup playoffs of the ECHL began on June 7 following the conclusion of the 2020–21 ECHL regular season, and ended on July 2 with the Fort Wayne Komets winning their first Kelly Cup over the South Carolina Stingrays in four games. Playoff format The qualification and with the top four teams from each conference at the end of the regular season. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 14 of the 26 member teams participated in the season, the playoff field was cut from 16 teams to eight, and there were no divisions. Fort Wayne Komets
The Fort Wayne Komets are a minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL. They play their home games at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This team was previously a member of the Central Hockey League, the original International Hockey League, and the second International Hockey League. They have won four post-season championship titles in the original IHL in 1963, 1965, 1973, and 1993, four in the UHL/second IHL in 2003, 2008, 2009, and 2010, one in the CHL in 2012, and one in the ECHL in 2021. Indy Fuel
The Indy Fuel are a minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL that began play in the 2014–15 season. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Fuel play their home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. They are affiliated with the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL's Rockford IceHogs. History On November 11, 2013, the ECHL's board of governors approved the expansion membership application of the Indy Fuel for admission to the league for the 2014–15 season. On October 17, 2014, the Fuel played their franchise opening game against the Fort Wayne Komets, reigniting the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne rivalry after 15 years in a 4–5 defeat. Shawn Szydlowski (born August 5, 1990) is an American professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), Winger who is currently playing with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. Playing career Prior to turning professional, Szydlowski played four seasons (2007–11) in the Ontario Hockey League with the Erie Otters On April 8, 2011, the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League (NHL) signed Szydlowski as an undrafted free agent to a three-year entry-level contract. Cole Ully (born February 20, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently signed to UK Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) side Cardiff Devils. Ully was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Ully first played in the Alberta Midget Hockey League with the Calgary Jr. Flames. He was drafted 30th overall in the 2010 WHL Bantom Draft by the Kamloops Blazers. The Maverik Center, originally known as the E Center, is a 12,000-seat multi-purpose arena located in West Valley City, Utah, United States. Construction on the arena started in 1996 and was completed in time to hold its first event on September 22, 1997. The Credit Union of Texas Event Center (formerly Allen Event Center) is an American 6,275 fixed-seat multi-purpose indoor arena located in Allen, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. The Indiana Farmers Coliseum (originally Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum and formerly Pepsi Coliseum and Fairgrounds Coliseum) is a 6,500-seat indoor multi-use arena, located on the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. Bon Secours Wellness Arena (formerly the BI-LO Center; The Well) is a multi-purpose arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The arena serves as the home of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL.
