2021 Internationaux De France
The 2021 Internationaux de France was the fifth event in the 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Patinoire Polesud in Grenoble on November 19–21. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The 2021–22 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating was a series of invitational senior internationals held from October 2021 through December 2021. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Osaka, Japan. The Grand Prix Final was cancelled on December 2, 2021, with the possibility of postponement to the end of the season, before being definitively cancelled on December 17. Organized by the International Skating Union, the series set the stage for the 2022 European, the 2022 Four Continents, and the 2022 World Championships, as well as the 2022 Winter Olympics. Matthias Versluis
Matthias Versluis (born 18 July 1994) is a Finnish figure skater. Competing in ice dancing with Juulia Turkkila, he is the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo bronze medalist and a two-time Finnish national champion. As a single skater, he is the 2014 Finnish national champion and competed in the final segment at two ISU Championships. Personal life Versluis was born on 18 July 1994 in Genolier, Switzerland, to a Finnish mother and Dutch father. He moved to Finland with his family when he was six months old. As of 2018, he is studying physiotherapy. Career Early career Versluis began learning to skate in 2002. Tiiu Valgemäe coached him early in his career. Juulia Turkkila (; born 3 November 1994) is a Finnish figure skater. Competing in ice dancing with Matthias Versluis, she is the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo bronze medalist and a two-time Finnish national champion. As a single skater, she is the 2012 Nordic champion and 2014 Finnish national champion. Representing France with her former skating partner, Morgan Ciprès, she is the 2019 European Champion, the 2018 World bronze medallist, the 2017 European bronze medallist, the 2018 Grand Prix Final champion, and a six-time French national champion. 2021–22 Grand Prix Of Figure Skating Final
The 2021–22 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final were scheduled to be held from December 9–12, 2021 at the Towa Pharmaceutical Ractab Dome in Osaka, Japan. The combined event was to be the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Medals would have been awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance on the senior and junior levels. On December 2, 2021, the event was cancelled due to Japanese travel restrictions imposed in response to the Omicron variant (as part of the COVID-19 pandemic), with the possibility of postponement to the end of the season.
