The 2021 season of competitive association football in Indonesia. Promotion and relegation Name changes * Semeru relocated to Sidoarjo and were renamed to Hizbul Wathan. * Putra Sinar Giri relocated to Pati and were renamed to Putra Safin Group Pati (PSG Pati). However, in June 2021, the club was acquired by Atta Halilintar and renamed themselves again into AHHA PS Pati, although the name change won't come into effect until next season. Domestic leagues Liga 1 The 2021–22 Liga 1, also known as BRI Liga 1 for sponsorship reasons, was the fifth season of Liga 1 under its current name and the 12th season of the top-flight Indonesian professional league for association football clubs since its establishment in 2008. Football Club Bekasi City or FC Bekasi City is an Indonesian football club based in Bekasi, West Java that competes in Liga 2 and play their home match at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium. History East Java origin As Putra Ijen FC In 2014, Putra Ijen FC was established in Jember. The club was established in order to participate in Liga 3 East Java. As Putra Sinar Giri FC In 2018, Putra Sinar Giri FC began participating in the East Java League 3 competition after buying a license from the club from Jember, Putra Ijen FC. The club moved its base from Jember to Gresik. PSG Gresik then promptly joined Liga 3 East Java in 2018. They won Liga 3 East Java for the first time in their history after beating Perseta Tulungagung 5–3 in penalty shootout.
