Clare Teal
Clare Teal (born 14 May 1973) is an English singer and broadcaster who has become famous not only for her singing, but also for having signed the biggest recording contract by a British jazz singer. Biography Teal was brought up in the Kildwick area of Yorkshire. She developed an interest in jazz from an early age, through her father's collection of 78rpm records, becoming "obsessed" with big band singers like Ella Fitzgerald and big bands like Joe Loss. She took music lessons, first on the electronic organ, then more formally on clarinet, before studying music at Wolverhampton University. While at university, Teal found herself without a clarinet for an unexpected examination. Deciding to sing instead, she not only got her "best grades ever", but discovered that she loved singing in public. Hits Radio
Hits Radio is a network of 25 contemporary hit radio stations in the United Kingdom, owned and operated by Bauer Media Audio UK. As of October 2022, the network has a combined reach of 6.6 million weekly listeners according to RAJAR. Overview Hits Radio UK broadcasts on DAB in many parts of the UK, nationally on Freeview and Sky TV platforms and online. A localized version of the station airs on FM and DAB in Greater Manchester, and a second localized version airs on DAB in London. As of 15 June 2020, there are a total of 25 local radio stations in the network, providing local programming, news, traffic and sport, along with networked output from Hits Radio. Neil Fox (broadcaster)
Neil Andrew Howe Fox (born 12 June 1961) is an English radio DJ and television presenter, known for many years as Dr Fox before he became "Foxy" in the 2000s, then simply as Neil Fox, M.D. before reemerging as "Dr Fox" in 2020 to host the UDJ "Heritage Chart" countdown. He was a judge on ''Pop Idol'' between 2001 and 2003 alongside Simon Cowell, Pete Waterman and Nicki Chapman. Early life Fox was born on 12 June 1961 in Harrow, Middlesex. As a boy he moved to Thames Ditton, Surrey, where he lived for a number of years. Neil Francis (broadcaster)
Neil Francis is a British freelance radio presenter, currently hosting afternoon drive on London DAB station, Thames Radio, and previously presented programmes on Absolute Radio, Absolute 80s, Capital FM, Gold, Chiltern Radio and BBC Radio Kent. Broadcasting career Starting on local London pirate station Skyline Radio, Francis's first big break in radio came in 1985 with a stint on North Sea pirate Radio Caroline and he has also worked as a presenter for Chiltern Radio in Herts/Beds/Bucks, Invicta FM in Kent and Capital FM in London. In his Virgin Radio stint, Francis presented at various time slots. After Virgin re-branded to Absolute Radio he began to present a Friday night show called Absolute 80's and a Saturday morning breakfast show. Russ Williams (DJ)
Russell "Russ" Williams (born 21 January 1962) is an English radio DJ from Blackpool, primarily known for his long-running shows on Virgin Radio (from 1993), and 2008 to 2016 on Absolute Radio, the re-launched version of Virgin Radio. Early life Williams trained at London's National Broadcasting School in Programming and Journalism. Radio career After his training, Williams landed a journalist job at Brighton's Southern Sound including presenting weekend Breakfast, which then led to a presenting job at Radio Mercury in Sussex, presenting a chart show every Sunday from 3–5pm. Michael David Kenneth Read (born 1 March 1947) is an English radio disc jockey, writer, journalist and television presenter. Read has been a broadcaster since 1976, best known for having been a DJ with BBC Radio 1, and television host for music chart series ''Top of the Pops'', children's programme ''Saturday Superstore'' and music panel game '' Pop Quiz''. Nation Radio UK
Nation Radio UK is a quasi-national radio station in the UK, broadcasting online and on DAB. It is owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting. The digital station was launched in June 2016 as Thames Radio with a line-up of former BBC and Capital presenters such as breakfast host Neil Fox, Dean Martin, Tony Blackburn, Alex Lester, Pat Sharp and Neil Francis, with all presenters broadcasting from 'virtual studios' (as Thames Radio had no physical studio premises of its own). In June 2017, Thames Radio dropped all of its presenters and became a non-stop music station, until changing its name to Nation Radio in June 2018. This was because the company behind Thames Radio had acquired a radio licence from Rock Radio Scotland (which was being unused) and wanted to launch a more 'national' service which would also include a station in Wales in time. Emma Barnett (born 5 February 1985) is a British broadcaster and journalist. She has been the main presenter of ''Woman's Hour'' on BBC Radio 4 since January 2021. Barnett worked for BBC Radio 5 Live for six years, beginning in 2014, after three years working for LBC. Between 2016 and 2020 she presented 5 Live's mid-morning weekday programme. YorkMix Radio
YorkMix Radio is a British radio station broadcasting in the city of York, in North Yorkshire. It was founded in early 2021, following the sale and re-branding of Minster FM as Greatest Hits Radio, and features a number of the presenters and staff who previously operated Minster FM. It is owned by YorkMix, who operate a local news website for the York area. History Following the end of locally based programming on Minster FM, the operators of local news website YorkMix started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for a replacement local radio station. ''Woman's Hour'' is a radio magazine programme broadcast in the United Kingdom on the BBC Light Programme, BBC Radio 2, and later BBC Radio 4. It has been on the air since 1946.
