2021 Herculis
The 2021 Herculis was the 35th edition of the annual outdoor track and field meeting in Monaco. Held on 9 July at Stade Louis II, it was the sixth leg of the 2021 Diamond League – the highest level international track and field circuit. On the women's side, the meeting was highlighted by Faith Kipyegon running 3:51.07 to beat Sifan Hassan and scare the world record. In the men's 3000 m steeplechase, the final lap warning bell was rung one lap early by race officials. This led Benjamin Kigen to start his final sprint early, thinking he only had 400 metres left to run when actually 800 metres remained. Upon learning of his mistake, Kigen slowed to a jog, allowing Lamecha Girma to pass and win the race. Stade Louis II
The Stade Louis II () is a stadium located in the Fontvieille district of Monaco. It serves primarily as a venue for football, being the home of AS Monaco and the Monaco national football team. The stadium is most notable for its distinctive nine arches at the away end of the ground. The arena is also used for the Herculis, a track and field meet of the Diamond League. The stadium hosted the 1986 and 1998–2012 UEFA Super Cup matches. Due to Monaco's small size, the stadium is the only football and athletics stadium in the country. History The original Stade Louis II was opened in 1939 as the home of AS Monaco. The decision to build a new sports centre in Monaco dates back to 1979. Trayvon Bromell
Trayvon Jaquez Bromell (born July 10, 1995) is an American professional track and field athlete specializing in sprinting events. He was the first junior to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 meters with a time of 9.97 seconds, the former junior world record. Bromell's personal best time in the 100m of 9.76 seconds makes him the 6th fastest man of all time, tying him with Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley. Amel Tuka (born 9 January 1991) is a Bosnian middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres. His achievements include a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships as well as a bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships. Tuka holds national records in the 400 m and 800 m disciplines. Clayton Murphy (born February 26, 1995) is an American middle-distance runner. He won the bronze medal in the 800-meter run at the 2016 Olympic Games. He was the gold medalist in the 800-meter run at the 2015 Pan American Games. Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir (born 15 June 1995) is a Kenyan middle-distance runner. He is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and 2022 World champion in the 800 metres. Nijel Carlos Amilfitano Amos (born 15 March 1994) is a Motswana middle-distance runner who competes in the 800 metres.
