2021 Edmonton Municipal Election
The 2021 Edmonton municipal election was held on October 18, 2021, to elect a mayor and 12 councillors to the city council, the nine trustees to Edmonton Public Schools, and the seven trustees to the Edmonton Catholic Schools. It was held in conjunction with the 2021 Alberta municipal elections. In conjunction with the municipal elections, residents voted in a provincially mandated Senate nominee election, a referendum on equalization and on whether to adopt permanent daylight saving time. Edmonton City Council
The Edmonton City Council is the governing body of the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Edmonton currently has one mayor and twelve city councillors. Elections are held every four years. The most recent was held in 2021, and the next is in 2025. The mayor is elected across the whole city, through the First Past the Post plurality voting system. Councillors are elected one per ward, a division of the city, through the First Past the Post plurality voting system. On July 22, 2009, City Council voted to change the electoral system of six wards to a system of 12 wards; each represented by a single councillor. The changes took effect in the 2010 election. 2021 Lethbridge Municipal Election
The 2021 Lethbridge municipal election was held Monday, October 18, 2021, to elect a mayor and eight councillors (at-large), the seven Lethbridge School Division trustees, and five of the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division’s nine trustees (as Ward 2). Incumbent mayor Chris Spearman, announced in January 2021 that he would not seek re-election. He served 2 terms as mayor—being first elected in 2013—after having sat for several years on the Holy Spirit school board. Of the 8 incumbent councillors, Rob Miyashiro, Joe Mauro, and Jeff Coffman declined to run for re-election. The 2021 Calgary municipal election was held on October 18, 2021, to elect a mayor and fourteen councillors to the Calgary City Council. Ahmed Ali, better known by the pseudonym Knowmadic, is a Somali-Canadian poet, writer, actor, musician, and youth activist. Early life Ali was born November 28, 1984, in Mogadishu, to a nomadic father and a mother whose family were farmers. His name is a portmanteau of ''knowledge'' and ''nomadic''.
