2021 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship
The 2021 Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship was the second staging of the Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and the 133rd staging overall of a championship for the top-ranking hurling teams in Cork. The draw for the group stage placings took place on 29 April 2021. The championship began on 14 July 2021 and ended on 21 November 2021. Blackrock entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Midleton at the semi-final stage. Carrigtwohill were relegated from the championship after being beaten in a playoff by Charleville. The final was played on 21 November 2021 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Glen Rovers and Midleton, in what was their first meeting in a final in 30 years. Midleton won the match by 0-24 to 1-18 to claim their eighth championship title overall and a first title since 2013. Patrick Horgan was the championship's top scorer with 6-56. Daniel Kearney
Daniel Kearney (born 19 December 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Championship club Sarsfields. He was a member of the Cork senior hurling team for eight seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a right wing-forward. Early life Kearney was born in Glanmire, County Cork. His twin brother, William Kearney, also played for Cork. Playing career Glanmire Community College Kearney first came to prominence as a hurler with Glanmire Community College in Rochestown. Having played at every grade, he was a forward on the college's senior teams that played in the Harty Cup. Glanmire
Glanmire () is a suburban town from Cork city centre, in the civil parish of Rathcooney, County Cork, Ireland. Sarsfields GAA (Cork)
Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. They have won six County Championships, 1951, 1957, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. They have also won three Minor County Championships, 2007, 2008 and 2014. The club derives its name for the Irish Jacobite and soldier Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan. Michael O'Halloran (Cork Hurler)
Michael O'Halloran (born 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-forward for club side Blackrock and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career University College Cork On 23 February 2019, O'Halloran lined out as a substitute for University College Cork when they faced Mary Immaculate College in the Fitzgibbon Cup final. He remained on the bench for the entire game but collected a winners' medal following the 2–21 to 0–13 victory. O'Halloran was again named amongst the substitutes for a second successive Fitzgibbon Cup final on 12 February 2020. Fergal Ryan
Fergal Ryan (born 17 February 1972) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Cork senior team. Born in Blackrock, Cork, Ryan first played competitive hurling whilst at school at Coláiste Chríost Rí. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor hurling team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 1992–93 National Hurling League. Ryan went on to win one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Ryan won one Railway Cup medal. At club level he has a three-time championship medallist with Blackrock. His uncle, Terry Kelly, had a lengthy career with Cork and Dublin. Throughout his career Ryan made 17 championship appearances for Cork. Blackrock, Cork
Blackrock is a suburb, with a village core, in the southeast of Cork City, Ireland. Originally a small fishing village about five kilometres from Cork City, the growth of the city over time has meant that the village has become incorporated into the city. It is home to Blackrock GAA club, Blackrock Castle, a weekly farmers market, and as of 2015 has seen some investment in regeneration projects for the traditional village centre. Ballyhea GAA
Ballyhea GAA is a hurling club in the village of Ballyhea in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Avondhu, division of Cork GAA. As of 2015, the club was competing in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. It does not field Gaelic football teams. History Ballyhea GAA Club has been in existence for over 126 years. The history of the club published in 1984 say the first GAA meeting took place in Jim Powers's Forge in the townland of Pruntas in late 1885 or early 1886. The Cork Senior A Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Senior A Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork SAHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Associationfrom 2020 for the second tier hurling teams in the county of Cork in Ireland. 2013 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 2013 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 125th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment in 1887. The championship began on 26 March 2013 and ended on 3 November 2013. Sarsfield's were the defending champions and made it all the way to the final, however, they were defeated by Midleton on a 2–15 to 2–13 score line. Pre-championship Sarsfield's were installed as the early favourites to retain the title for a fourth time in six years and put back-to-back titles together for the first time in their history. Midleton and Cork Institute of Technology were regarded as the two teams that could provide the strongest challenge to Sarsfield's supremacy once again.
