2021 Connecticut Sun
The 2021 WNBA season was the 23rd season for the Connecticut Sun franchise of the Women's National Basketball Association. It was also the 19th season for the franchise in Connecticut. The season began on May 14, 2021, at the Atlanta Dream. The Sun started the season strongly and went on a five-game winning streak before losing their first game. They lost two of their last three games in May to finish with a strong 6–2 record in that month. The month of June was streaky for the Sun, with a three-game losing streak book-ended by a two-game winning streak and a three-game winning streak. Those streaks left the team with a 5–3 record in June. The Sun went 3–1 in July, the last month before the Olympic break. The team headed into the Olympic break with a 14–6 overall record. WNBA Eastern Conference
The Eastern Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association is made up of six teams. From the league's second season in 1998 through 2015, the WNBA operated separate playoff brackets for its Eastern and Western Conferences. Each conference's playoff was divided into two playoff rounds, the Conference Semi-Finals and the Conference Finals, with the Conference Finals winners receiving Conference Championships and advancing to the WNBA Finals to determine the WNBA champion. In the final years of this playoff scheme, all in-conference playoff series were best-of-three. Since 2016, the league has abandoned separate conference playoffs in favor of a single league-wide playoff bracket. DiJonai Carrington
DiJonai Carrington (born January 8, 1998) is an American basketball player for the Connecticut Sun. She played college basketball for Stanford and later Baylor before being drafted by the Connecticut Sun in the 2021 WNBA draft. Early life Carrington attended Horizon Christian Academy in San Diego, California. She scored over 2,000 career points for Horizon, while averaging 18.8 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 4.0 apg, and 2.5 spg. Stephanie Jones (basketball)
Stephanie Jones (born July 7, 1998) is an American basketball player. She has played for the Washington Mystics and the Connecticut Sun. Early life Jones played high school basketball at Aberdeen and helped lead them to two state championships as a freshman and a junior. During her season season, she averaged 28.4 points, 12 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 3.7 steals, and 2 blocks. She suffered a torn ACL in January of her senior year. Morgan Bertsch (born April 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. She was drafted by the Dallas Wings in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She played college basketball at UC Davis. College career Bertsch played her collegiate basketball for the UC Davis Aggies. Coming out of high school, Bertsch didn't play any AAU basketball and UC Davis was the only Division I school to offer her out of high school. Alyssa Thomas (born April 12, 1992) is an American professional basketball forward for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins. The New York Liberty drafted Thomas 4th overall in the 2014 WNBA draft, and immediately traded her to the Sun along with Kelsey Bone and a 2015 first-round draft pick in exchange for Tina Charles. Kamiah Smalls (born April 17, 1998) is an American basketball player. She was drafted by the Indiana Fever with the 28th overall pick of the 2020 WNBA draft. Beatrice Mompremier (born August 8, 1996) is an American basketball player who last played for the Atlanta Dream in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted 20th overall in the 2020 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks after playing college basketball for the Miami Hurricanes. Natisha Hiedeman (born February 10, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She was drafted with the eighteenth overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, which is the highest of any Marquette basketball player in school history and the highest draft pick for the Big East Conference since conference re-alignment. The Oregon State Beavers women's basketball team is the official women's basketball team of Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. They are one of ten varsity women's sports at OSU. Aleah Goodman (born Novemenber 24, 1998) is an American basketball player. She played college basketball for Oregon State from 2017 to 2021 before briefly playing professionally for the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA.
