2021 Colorado Rapids Season
The 2021 Colorado Rapids season was the club's twenty-sixth season of existence and their twenty-sixth consecutive season in Major League Soccer (MLS), the top flight of American soccer. Background Colorado finished the 2020 season 5th in the Western Conference table, and 10th overall in MLS. Jonathan Lewis and Cole Bassett lead Colorado with 5 goals across all competitions. Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Founded in 1995, as part of the Anschutz Corporation, later to be a founding sports franchise of the global sports & entertainment juggernaut AEG, the club is a founding member of MLS, playing their first season in 1996. The Rapids are owned by the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, also owners of the Denver Nuggets of NBA, Colorado Avalanche of NHL, and other sports teams outside of the state of Colorado. Colorado won the MLS Cup in 2010, their second MLS Cup appearance. The first appearance was in 1997, losing to D.C. United. Cole Bassett
Cole John Bassett (born July 28, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. Club career Born in Littleton, Colorado, Bassett joined the Colorado Rapids academy in 2017 from the Colorado Rush. A year later, on August 10, 2018, Bassett signed his first professional contract with the Rapids as a homegrown player. He proceeded to make his competitive debut for the club on September 8 against the Portland Timbers. He came on as a 71st minute substitute for Kortne Ford as Colorado lost 2–0. He scored his first senior goal against FC Dallas on the final game of the 2018 season. Mark-Anthony Kaye (born December 2, 1994) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Major League Soccer club New England Revolution and the Canada national team. Michael Barrios
Michael David Barrios Puerta (born 21 April 1991) is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a winger for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. Club career Barrios spent four seasons with Colombian Categoría Primera A side Uniautónoma before signing with Major League Soccer club FC Dallas on 19 February 2015. During the 2018 season, Barrios scored a hat-trick for Dallas to defeat Sporting Kansas City. On 13 January 2021, after six seasons with Dallas, Barrios was traded to Colorado Rapids. Diego Iván Rubio Köstner (born 15 May 1993) is a Chilean footballer who plays as a striker for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. Club career Early career Rubio began his football career with Universidad Católica. However, when he was 14, he took the decision to move to his favorite team Colo-Colo. After one year in the bench with Colo-Colo, in the next season Diego was consecrated in the youth team. After many seasons in the youth ranks, he was promoted to the first professional team in January 2011. Andre Bava Shinyashiki (born 11 June 1997) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Azerbaijan Premier League club Neftçi PFK. He was named the recipient of the 2019 MLS Rookie of the Year award as well as the 2018 men's soccer Senior CLASS Award, a national recognition awarded to the top men's collegiate senior in college soccer. Alhassan "Lalas" Abubakar (born December 25, 1994) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. Daniel John Wilson (born 27 December 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a centre-back for Major League Soccer club Colorado Rapids. Drew Moor (born January 15, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a center-back in Major League Soccer. Born in Dallas, Moor began playing college soccer for the Furman Paladins before transferring to the Indiana Hoosiers.
