The 2021 Colorado Buffaloes football team represented the University of Colorado Boulder during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Buffaloes were led by second-year head coach Karl Dorrell. They played their home games on campus at Folsom Field as a member of the South Division of the Pac-12 Conference. Karl Dorrell
Karl James Dorrell (born December 18, 1963) is an American football coach who was most recently the head coach at the University of Colorado. Dorrell most notably served as the head football coach of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2003 to 2007, compiling a record of 35–27. He led the UCLA Bruins to five bowl appearance in five seasons, but did not coach in the fifth after he was fired in December 2007. Dorrell was the first and only African American head football coach in UCLA's history to date. In 2020, Dorrell was hired as the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. In his first season at CU, he was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year. In 2022, Dorrell was fired after an 0–5 start to the season, with 4 consecutive 25+ point losses, being named the worst start to college football season in 65 years. 2021 Northern Colorado Bears Football Team
The 2021 Northern Colorado Bears football team represented the University of Northern Colorado as a member of the Big Sky Conference during the 2021 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by first-year head coach Ed McCaffrey and played their home games at Nottingham Field. Previous season The Bears finished the 2019 season 2–10, 2–6 in Big Sky play to finish in a five-way tie for ninth place. On November 24, head coach Earnest Collins Jr. was fired after nine seasons. He finished at Northern Colorado with a record of 28–72. The Bears opted out in the 2020 fall season and 2021 spring season.
