2021 Buffalo Bulls Football Team
The 2021 Buffalo Bulls football team represented the University at Buffalo in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Bulls were led by first-year coach Maurice Linguist and played their home games at the University at Buffalo Stadium as members of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. Previous season In a limited season, which was initially canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic before being reinstated, the Bulls finished the 2020 season 6–1, 5–0 in MAC play to win the East Division. They lost to Ball State in the MAC Championship. They received an invite to the Camellia Bowl where they defeated Marshall. Mid-American Conference
The Mid-American Conference (MAC) is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I collegiate athletic conference with a membership base in the Great Lakes region that stretches from Western New York to Illinois. Malcolm Koonce
Malcolm Koonce (born June 6, 1998) is an American football defensive end for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Buffalo and was selected by the Raiders in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Early years Koonce grew up in Peekskill, New York, and attended Archbishop Stepinac High School. Although his primary sport at first was rugby, he switched his focus to football after realizing that it could earn him a college scholarship. In 2015, he led Stepinac to a New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association championship. After graduating, he completed a post-graduate year at Milford Academy in New Berlin, New York.
