2021 Boston College Eagles Football Team
The 2021 Boston College Eagles football team represented Boston College during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Eagles played their home games at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The team was led by second-year head coach Jeff Hafley. It was the first season with fans at Alumni Stadium since 2019. After finishing their regular season with a 6–6 record, the Eagles accepted a bid to play in the Military Bowl, where they were due to face the East Carolina Pirates. On December 26, the Eagles withdrew from the game, due to COVID-19 issues; the bowl was subsequently canceled. The 2021 NC State Wolfpack football team represented North Carolina State University during the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Wolfpack played their home games at Carter–Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina and competed in the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They were led by ninth-year head coach Dave Doeren. The Wolfpack finished their regular season with a 9–3 overall record, and accepted a bid to the Holiday Bowl, where they were due to face UCLA. Hours before game time on December 28, UCLA withdrew from the bowl due to COVID-19 issues, and the bowl was canceled. O'Rourke–McFadden Trophy
The O'Rourke–McFadden Trophy was created in 2008 by the Boston College Gridiron Club to commemorate the tradition at Clemson and Boston College while honoring the legacy of Charlie O'Rourke and Banks McFadden. O'Rourke and McFadden are members of the College Football Hall of Fame who played during the leather helmet era. Since the trophy's inception in 2008, the club has presented it to every winner of a Boston College-Clemson football game.
