The 2021 BMW Open was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the 105th edition of the event and part of the ATP Tour 250 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. ATP Tour 250
The ATP 250 tournaments (previously known as the ''ATP World Tour 250'' tournaments, ''ATP International Series'', and ''ATP World Series'') are the lowest tier of annual men's tennis tournaments on the main ATP Tour, after the four Grand Slam tournaments, ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and ATP 500 tournaments. As of 2020, the series includes 39 tournaments, with 250 ranking points awarded to each singles champion—which accounts for the name of the series. Draws consist of 28, 32, or 48 for singles and 16 for doubles. Thomas Muster holds the record for most singles titles at 26, while Mike Bryan holds the record for most doubles titles won with 46. Dušan Lajović
Dušan Lajović ( sr-cyrl, Душан Лајовић; born 30 June 1990) is a Serbian professional tennis player. Lajović has won one singles and two doubles titles on the ATP Tour. On 29 April 2019, Lajović reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 23. On 21 September 2020, he peaked at No. 82 in the doubles rankings. He is best known for his clay-court game, kick serve and strong flowing groundstrokes, especially his one-handed backhand. Lajović regularly represents Serbia in team competitions, after playing in the now defunct World Team Cup in 2010 and 2011, he is a member of the Serbian Davis Cup team since 2012 and he contributed greatly to Serbia winning the inaugural ATP Cup in 2020, as he won four of six matches. Andrej Martin (; born 20 September 1989, in Bratislava) is a Slovak professional tennis player. He achieved his career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 93 in February 2020. Ričardas Berankis (; born June 21, 1990) is a Lithuanian professional tennis player. He is the first and only Lithuanian citizen (not counting Lithuanian American Vitas Gerulaitis) to enter the ATP top 50 rankings, making him the highest ranked Lithuanian tennis player of all time. Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (; born 9 October 1990) is a German professional tennis player. He reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 71 in February 2012. Michael Mackenzie Lowe "Mackie" McDonald (born April 16, 1995) is an American professional tennis player.
