Asian Gymnastics Championships
The Asian Gymnastic Union (AGU) organizes Asian Gymnastics Championships for each of the FIG gymnastic disciplines: men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics, aerobic gymnastics and trampoline gymnastics. This article lists only the senior editions of the Asian Gymnastics Championships, in which competitors must be over 16 years of age. Specific editions of the Asian Championships also exist for junior athletes; for example, the first edition of the Junior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held in 1971, but the first senior edition of the tournament was only held in 1996. Similarly, Junior Asian Trampoline Championships were held in 2010 and 2012, but only in 2014 the Asian Gymnastics Union held a senior tournament in conjunction with the junior championships for the first time. Gymnastics is a type of sport that includes physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, dedication and endurance. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, back, chest, and abdominal muscle groups. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills. Kim Chae-woon
Kim Chae-woon (born 10 March 2001) is a South Korean retired individual rhythmic gymnast. She is a multiple time medalist at the Asian Rhythmic Championships and was part of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Athletic career Kim began rhythmic gymnastics during middle school, when she was 10 years old. At first, it was only a hobby for her, but her coach encouraged her to take it up seriously. She trained in Novogorsk, house of the Russian national team, with coach Evgeniya Gertsikova for a 5 years period. 2017-2021 In her first senior year, she won the Korean National championships in March, and was named as the future Son Yeon-jae of rhythmic gymnastics. At the 2017 Asian Championships, she finished 9th in the all-around final and 5th in the team competition. Zhao Yating
Zhao Yating (; born 12 May 2001 in Yuncheng, Shanxi, China) is a Chinese individual rhythmic gymnast. Career Zhao first tried rhythmic gymnastics at age three in Yangquan and began formal training at age six. She was scouted by former gymnast Wu Chuangrong and became member a National Elite Athlete of China in 2016. As a junior, Zhao won the all-around gold at the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships ahead of Nastasya Generalova of the US. Zhao won gold in hoop, ball and bronze in clubs, ribbon. She also won bronze in all-around at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships and took silver medal in ball and clubs. In 2016, Zhao won the all-around silver medal at the Chinese National Championships. In 2017 Season, Zhao began training with overseas coach Larisa Sidorova who has coached gymnasts such as Varvara Filiou. Zhao competed at the World Cup Series in Pesaro, Italy and Guadalajara, Spain.
