2021 Arizona Wildcats Baseball Team
The 2021 Arizona Wildcats baseball team represented the University of Arizona during the 2021 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wildcats played their home games for the 10th season at Hi Corbett Field. The team was coached by Jay Johnson in his 6th season and final season at Arizona. Following the season, Coach Johnson was hired as the head baseball coach at Louisiana State University. The Wildcats ranked 10th in Collegiate Baseball's preseason poll - their highest preseason ranking in any poll since 2013 - and their incoming recruiting class was ranked 4th in the nation by D1Baseball. On May 23, the Wildcats clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 Championship for the first time since the 2012 season that saw the team win the College World Series. Jay Johnson (baseball Coach)
Jay Bradley Johnson (born April 20, 1977) is an American baseball coach and former second baseman, who is the current head baseball coach of the LSU Tigers baseball, LSU Tigers. He played college baseball at Shasta College, Shasta from 1997 to 1998 before transferring to Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions, Point Loma Nazarene. He then served as the head coach of the Point Loma Nazarene Sea Lions (2005), Nevada Wolf Pack baseball, Nevada (2014–2015) and the Arizona Wildcats baseball, Arizona Wildcats (2016–2021). Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. Jacob Berry
Jacob Berry (born May 5, 2001) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Miami Marlins organization. He previously played college baseball for Louisiana State University and the University of Arizona. Amateur career Berry attended Queen Creek High School in Queen Creek, Arizona. After graduating in 2020, he enrolled at the University of Arizona to play college baseball for the Arizona Wildcats. In 2021, his freshman year, he appeared in 63 games (making 62 starts), slashing .352/.439/.676 with 17 home runs, 70 runs batted in (RBIs), 19 doubles, and 54 runs scored, earning multiple All-American honors. An infielder is a baseball player stationed at one of four defensive "infield" positions on the baseball field. Daniel Susac
Daniel Shawn Susac (born May 14, 2001) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Oakland Athletics organization. Amateur career Susac attended Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California, a suburb of Sacramento, where he played football and baseball. As a junior in 2019, he hit .378. He played in the Under Armour All-America Baseball Game at Wrigley Field that summer. His senior season in 2020 was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He originally committed to play college baseball at Oregon State University, but switched his commitment to the University of Arizona. Susac immediately became Arizona's starting catcher as a freshman in 2021, playing in 61 games with sixty being starts. Catcher
Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball. When a Batter (baseball), batter takes their at bat, turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home plate, home) Umpire (baseball), umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team is an American National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college baseball team.
