2021 ARIA Music Awards
The 2021 ARIA Music Awards are the 35th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs) and consist of a series of awards, including the 2021 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and the ARIA Awards. The ARIA Awards ceremony occurred on 24 November 2021 in partnership with YouTube Music and streamed live on YouTube, and broadcast via 9Now. The main ceremony was hosted by Linda Marigliano at the Taronga Zoo. The 2021 ARIA Awards inaugurated a new category, ARIA Award for Best Artist, which replaced the categories of Best Female Artist and Best Male Artist. This change is designed to ensure that the ARIA Awards reflect and embrace equality and the true diversity of the music industry in 2021. Taronga Zoo is a zoo located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, in the suburb of Mosman, on the shores of Sydney Harbour. Amy Louise Billings (born 14 May 1986), known professionally as Amy Shark, is an Australian indie pop singer-songwriter-guitarist and producer from the Gold Coast, Queensland. During 2008 to 2012, her early solo material was released and performed under the name Amy Cushway. Gretta Ray (born May 22nd 1998) is an Australian singer-songwriter from Melbourne, Victoria. In 2016, she was the winner of the national Triple J Unearthed radio competition for bands and songwriters, and the 2016 Vanda & Young Global Songwriting Competition, with her song "Drive (Gretta Ray song), Drive". ''Budjerah'' is the debut extended play (EP) by Australian singer-songwriter Budjerah. It was released for digital download and streaming on 26 March 2021 by Warner Music Australia. On 27 August 2021, a special edition of the EP was released on CD, which included the four tracks from ''Budjerah'' and four new tracks. Follow its physical release, the EP debuted at number 72 on the ARIA Albums Chart. At the 2021 ARIA Music Awards, the EP was nominated for Best Soul/R&B Release and Breakthrough Artist - Release. Rüfüs Du Sol, stylised as RÜFÜS DU SOL and formerly known as simply Rüfüs (stylized RÜFÜS) from 2010 to 2018, is an Australian alternative dance group from Sydney, that consists of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt.
