2020–21 ŠK Slovan Bratislava Season
The 2020–21 season was ŠK Slovan Bratislava's 15th consecutive in the top flight of Slovak football. Slovan were successful in their defence of the domestic double, after winning their third Slovak Super Liga title in a row and a second consecutive Slovak Cup title. Having won the 2019–20 Slovak First Football League, Slovan contested in the UEFA Champions League, but were eliminated in the first qualifying round after a technical victory was awarded to the opponent according to the regulations related to COVID-19. ŠK Slovan Bratislava
ŠK Slovan Bratislava (, "Bratislava Slav") is a football club based in Bratislava, Slovakia, that plays in the Slovak Super Liga. Founded as 1. ČsŠK Bratislava in 1919, the club changed its name to Slovan Bratislava in 1953. Slovan is the most successful team in Slovakia with the most titles in both league and cup in the country. Slovan Bratislava became the first and so far only club in Slovakia as well as former Czechoslovakia to win one of the European cup competitions, the Cup Winners' Cup when they defeated FC Barcelona in the final in Basel in 1969. Michal Šulla (born 15 July 1991) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Líšeň. Club career He made his professional Corgoň Liga debut for Spartak Myjava against Tatran Prešov on 1 September 2012. Myjava won 2-0. International career Šulla was called up for two unofficial friendly fixtures in January 2017. Dominik Greif (born 6 April 1997) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for La Liga club RCD Mallorca and the Slovakia national team. During the 2018–19 season, Greif was the dominantly preferred goalkeeper over Michal Šulla, playing in 29 of the 32 games during the season. 2019–20 Slovak First Football League
The 2019–20 Slovak First Football League (known as the Slovak Fortuna liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 27th season of first-tier football league in Slovakia since its establishment in 1993. Slovan Bratislava were the defending champions and successfully defended their title, winning their record-extending 10th Slovak title. Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic Since March, the season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On 7 March, the 22nd and last round of the regular stage took place. Both the championship group and the relegation group were subsequently supposed to have 10 rounds starting on 14 March. However, the season was interrupted until the end of May. On 22 May, the league committee approved the restart of the competition with a new 5-round model starting on 13 June. The 2021–22 season was ŠK Slovan Bratislava's 16th consecutive in the top flight of Slovak football. Slovan successfully retained their league title, winning a record-breaking fourth title in a row and 12th overall since the competition was established in 1993. However, they were not successful in defending their Slovak Cup title, after losing in the final. As league champion from the previous season, Slovan qualified for the UEFA Champions League. They were eliminated in the second qualifying round. Subsequently, Slovan competed in this season's edition of the UEFA Europa League, but were eliminated in the play-off round.
