2020–21 Wellington Phoenix FC Season
The 2020–21 season was the Wellington Phoenix FC, Wellington Phoenix's 14th season since its establishment in 2007. The club participated in the A-League for the 14th time. Pre-season On 27 August 2020, it was announced that Liberato Cacace had signed with Belgian club Sint-Truidense V.V., Sint-Truidense after they had paid a transfer fee of $2,100,000. On 6 September, the Phoenix announced that Callum McCowatt signed with Danish club FC Helsingør, Helsingør following the conclusion of his contract. On 12 September, it was announced that Gary Hooper had departed the club following the conclusion of his contract. On 14 September, the Phoenix announced the shock departure of captain Steven Taylor (footballer), Steven Taylor after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract. Joshua Laws (born 26 February 1998) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for A-League Men side Western Sydney Wanderers. Early life Laws was born in Scotland. He moved to Sydney, Australia aged four before returning to the United Kingdom at the age of twelve. When Laws was fourteen, he moved to Germany. James McGarry (footballer)
James Robert McGarry (born 9 April 1998) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Australian A-League Men club Brisbane Roar. Club career McGarry was scouted to attend the APFA academy in Christchurch from Dunedin in 2011. McGarry had professional trials with Chelsea and Sheffield United. Clayton Rhys Lewis (born 12 February 1997 in Wellington) is a New Zealand professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. Lewis is currently suspended from playing in the A-League in Australia following charges relating to illegal betting.
