2020–21 Virtus Roma Season
The 2020–21 season is Virtus Roma's 61st in existence and the club's Lega Basket Serie A, 2nd consecutive season in the top tier Italian basketball. Overview During the summer preseason period, the team faced financial uncertainty for the 2020–21 LBA season, coming season, but at the end, on July 31, the president Toti decided to subscribe the team to the Lega Basket Serie A. Coach Piero Bucchi was confirmed and the team built in just less than a month. Roma started the season without having a top sponsor and the lack of it brought more financial problems to deal with before the end of the year. In the month of December, Claudio Toti started looking for new owners whom to hand over the team, but no offer was officially made. Finally the decision to withdraw from the Serie A was taken on December 9 and the announcement was first given from the Italian Basketball Federation. Virtus Roma
Pallacanestro Virtus Roma, commonly known as Virtus Roma, was an Italian professional basketball club based in Rome, Lazio. It competed in the first division of Italian basketball, the LBA, for the last time in the 2020–21 season. It was formerly a major side in Europe, winning the 1983–84 FIBA European Champions Cup ( EuroLeague), and at one time being one of only 13 clubs to hold a EuroLeague A license. However, its standing later waned, and Virtus became less competitive in both Europe and the domestic LBA - which it had won in 1983 – before being voluntarily relegated to the Italian second division in July 2015. Gerald Anthony Robinson Jr. (born February 10, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Dinamo Sassari of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). Standing at 1.85 m (6'1"), he plays at the point guard and shooting guard positions. College career Robinson played college basketball at Tennessee State University, with the Tennessee State Tigers. He played at Tennessee State from 2007 to 2009. Robinson then attended the University of Georgia. He played with the school's men's team, the Georgia Bulldogs, from 2010 to 2012. Amar Alibegović (born 31 March 1995) is a Bosnian professional basketball player for Çağdaş Bodrumspor of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). He is the son of Teoman Alibegović, a former basketball player. BC UNICS (russian: БК УНИКС) is a professional basketball club in Kazan, Russia, that plays in the VTB United League, and formerly played in the EuroLeague.
