2020–21 Martinique Championnat National
The 2020–21 Martinique Championnat National was the 101st season of the Martinique Championnat National, the top division football competition in Martinique. The season began on 4 September 2020 and ended on 16 March 2021. The season was split into two regional groups due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Martinique. The top three teams in each group are to play in a Championship Round, and the bottom five teams in each group are to play in the relegation round, but no matches have been reported of as of July 2021. Martinique Championnat National is the top association football league in Martinique. It was created in 1919 and is headed by the Ligue de Football de Martinique. 14 Teams participate in this league. Despite being a league competition in CONCACAF since 2002 none of the Martinique teams have ever played in CFU Club Championship or CONCACAF Champions' Cup. The last 4 placed teams are relegated to the Martinique Promotion d'Honneur. Samaritaine are the current champions, having won their third league title during the 2019–20 season. Relegation Round
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. AS Samaritaine is a football club of Martinique, based in the northeastern town Sainte-Marie. Founded in 1920,France â€“ D.O.M. â€“ Martinique â€“ List of Foundation Dates
nbsp;– RSSSF their home games are staged at their Xercès-Louis stadium, which is named after a Martinique-born French international footballer of the 1950s, Xercès Louis. In 2009, the club were relegated due to financial problems. The club eventually won promotion back to the top division and are the current league champions, having won the title during the 2019–20 season.
