Macarthur Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in South Western Sydney, New South Wales. It competes in Australia's premier soccer competition, the A-League, under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). On 13 December 2018, it was announced that the club would be accepted into the A-League as part of the new expansion process. History The club's origins are in the merging of two separate bids during the league's expansion process in 2018, United for Macarthur and South West Sydney FC. The two entities joined forces on 20 August 2018 to create Macarthur South West United Football Club, which later that year was chosen by the FFA to join the league in the 2020–21 A-League season. Kyle Cimenti (born 5 November 1998) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Marconi Stallions. Club career After spending some time in the Western Sydney Wanderers youth setup, Cimenti signed for Sydney United 58 FC playing out the 2018 NPL NSW season. In October 2018 Cimenti first signed for NK Spansko later moving to NK Kustošija in 2019 in the Croatian HNL-2 second division . Nicholas Suman (born 28 February 2000), is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Macarthur. Aleksandar Šušnjar ( sr-cyrl, Александар Шушњар, born 19 August 1995) is an Australian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Macarthur FC in the A-League. Club career Born in Perth, Šušnjar made his senior debut in Europe, playing with Lithuanian side Ekranas in A Lyga seasons 2013 and 2014. James Gregory Meredith (born 5 April 1988) is a retired Australian soccer player who played as a left back English Football League clubs Chesterfield, Shrewsbury Town, Bradford City and Millwall and for A-League Men clubs Perth Glory and Macarthur FC. Meredith started his career with the Derby County youth system in 2004, signing a professional contract in 2006. He was loaned out to Cambridge United and Chesterfield before moving to Sligo Rovers. Thomas Michael Oar (born 10 December 1991) is a retired Australian professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Born on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Oar played youth football for Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and at the Queensland Academy of Sport before making his professional debut for Brisbane Roar in 2008.
