2020–21 Exeter City F.C. Season
The 2020–21 Exeter City season was the club's 119th year in existence and their ninth consecutive season in League Two. They finished 9th in the league, failing to qualify for the play-offs on the final day. The club reached the third round of the FA Cup, losing to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. City were eliminated in the first round of the EFL Cup by Bristol City, and were knocked out of the EFL Trophy in the second round by Northampton Town. The season covers the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Review September A tough League Cup draw away to Bristol City began Exeter's season, and despite a strong showing a young and inexperienced side lost 2–0 to the Championship club. Exeter () is a city in Devon, South West England. It is situated on the River Exe, approximately northeast of Plymouth and southwest of Bristol. Joel John Randall (born 29 October 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Peterborough United. Career Despite being a boyhood Southampton fan, Randall joined the Exeter City Academy at U11's after being spotted at one of the club's development centres. He started a scholarship with the club in the summer of 2016. After progressing through the academy, Randall made his first-team debut in November 2017 during Exeter City's EFL Trophy tie against Chelsea U21s, replacing Jack Sparkes in the 62nd minute. The County Ground (currently known as the Energy Check County Ground for sponsorship purposes) is a stadium located near the town centre of Swindon, Wiltshire, England, and has been home to Swindon Town Football Club since 1896. Alex Duncan Hartridge (born 9 March 1999) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Wycombe Wanderers. Career Exeter City Born in Torquay, Hartridge began his career with Exeter City, turning professional in April 2017. He spent five loan spells on loan at Truro City. He made his senior debut for Exeter City on 28 November 2017, in the EFL Cup. He made his Football League debut for them on 29 December 2018.
