2020–21 EuroCup Basketball
The 2020–21 EuroCup Basketball season was the 19th season of Euroleague Basketball's secondary level professional club basketball tournament. It was the 13th season since it was renamed from the ULEB Cup to the EuroCup, and the fifth season under the title sponsorship name of 7DAYS. Team allocation A total of 24 teams from 10 leagues participate in the 2020–21 EuroCup Basketball. In response to the premature ending of the previous season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the eight teams that qualified for the quarterfinals were awarded with guaranteed spots. The remaining spots were awarded to teams qualifying through their domestic league's final standings. On 15 June 2020, the preliminary team list for the season was approved. On 22 June 2020, the team list was approved by the ECA shareholders executive board, selecting Dolomiti Energia Trento to replace Fraport Skyliners who have withdrawn from the competition. Košarkarski klub Cedevita Olimpija ( en, Cedevita Olimpija Basketball Club), commonly referred to as KK Cedevita Olimpija or simply Olimpija, is a men's professional basketball club based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The club competes in the ABA League and the EuroCup Basketball, EuroCup, as well as in the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League, Slovenian League. Pallacanestro Brescia S.p.A., known for sponsorship reasons as Germani Brescia, is an Italian professional basketball team based in Brescia, Lombardy. The Skyliners Frankfurt, currently known as Fraport Skyliners for sponsorship reasons, are a professional basketball club based in Frankfurt, Germany. Their home arena is Ballsporthalle. The club has played in the Basketball Bundesliga since 1999. Its greatest accomplishments were the German Cup competition title in 2000, the German national championship in 2004 and the FIBA Europe Cup in 2016. European Professional Club Basketball System
Professional basketball clubs in Europe can compete in a number of different competitions, including national leagues, regional (multi-national) leagues, and continental competitions. It is therefore possible for clubs from some countries to take part in several levels of competition in the same season. Clubs usually qualify for European competitions through performance in their national or regional leagues, with the exception of wild cards.
