The 2020–21 Big Ten women's basketball season began with practices in October 2020, followed by the start of the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season in November 2020. Indiana State Sycamores Women's Basketball
The Indiana State Sycamores basketball team is an NCAA Division I women's basketball program of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Sycamores compete in the Missouri Valley Conference. Sycamore basketball history In 1971, women's basketball became an intercollegiate sport at Indiana State University. In 1982, the sport was elevated to revenue status, which meant more money was available. Under Coach Edith Godleski, Indiana State qualified for its first WNIT Tournament game in 1976. Joseph McKeown ( ; born May 12, 1956) is a retired United States, American basketball coach and former player who currently serves as the head Northwestern Wildcats women's basketball, women's basketball coach at Northwestern University. McKeown previously served as head coach at New Mexico State Aggies women's basketball, New Mexico State and George Washington University until joining Northwestern in 2008. The South Dakota Coyotes women's basketball team represents the University of South Dakota in NCAA Division I basketball. They are currently members of the Summit League. History As of the end of the 2022–23 season the Coyotes have a 890–559 all-time record, with play beginning in 1971. Lindsay Marie Whalen (born May 9, 1982) is an American professional basketball coach and former player who is an assistant coach for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Whalen played college basketball at the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's basketball, University of Minnesota, and led the team to its only NCAA tournament Final Four appearance in 2004. The Eastern Michigan Eagles women's basketball team represents Eastern Michigan University, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, in women's basketball. Suzy Merchant (born July 26, 1969) most recently served as head basketball coach for the Michigan State University Women's Basketball team. She is married to Gary Rakan and has two sons, Tyler Rakan and Brady Rakan. Coaching career Saginaw Valley State After inheriting a team with a losing record, Merchant quickly built the SVSU program into a winner, compiling a 54–29 record during her three-year tenure as head coach. Kimberly Ann Barnes Arico (born August 9, 1970) is an American basketball coach and the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team. She is the all-time winningest Michigan basketball coach. Previously, she was head coach of the St. John's Red Storm women's basketball team.
