The 2020–21 season was Al-Batin's 42nd year in their existence and the first season back in the top flight of Saudi Arabian football after winning the MS League last season. Bāṭin or baten ( ar, باطن) literally means "inner", "inward", "hidden", etc. The Quran, for instance, has a hidden meaning in contrast to its exterior or apparent meaning, the zahir (zaher).
