The 2020–21 Adelaide United FC season is the club's 16th season since its establishment in 2003. The club will participate in the A-League for the 15th time. The club will not compete in the 2020 FFA Cup due to the event being cancelled following the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. Adelaide United Football Club is a professional soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The club participates in the A-League Men under licence from Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The club was founded in 2003 to fill the place vacated by Adelaide City and West Adelaide in the former National Soccer League (NSL), and is now the sole team from the state of South Australia in the A-League. Adelaide United's home ground is Coopers Stadium, formally Hindmarsh Stadium. Adelaide United holds the record for the largest win in an A-League game. Adelaide defeated North Queensland Fury 8–1 at Hindmarsh Stadium on 21 January 2011. Ryan Strain (born 2 April 1997) is a professional soccer player who plays as a right back or winger for St Mirren. Born in England, he plays for the Australia national team. Club career Adelaide United On 22 September 2017, Strain signed a 1-year scholarship contract with Adelaide United. 3 months later, he signed a two-year contract extension as a senior player, making him the 30th player to progress from the club's youth team to their senior team. Michael Jakobsen
Michael Jakobsen (born 2 January 1986) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a defender for National Premier Leagues South Australia club Adelaide Olympic. He was named 2002 Danish ''Under-17 Player of the Year'', and has played five games for the Denmark national team. Club career B.93 and PSV Jakobsen started playing football with Boldklubben 1908 and Boldklubben af 1893 in the Danish 1st Division. He made his senior debut for B.93, and after a year at the club, Dutch team PSV Eindhoven spotted Jakobsen and signed him into their youth academy in 2003. Yaya Dukuly (born 17 January 2003) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a winger for Championnat National 2 side Reims B. Joe Kato Caletti (加藤 カレッティ 丈, ''Katō Karetti Jō'', born 14 September 1998) is an Australian professional soccer player who plays as a central midfielder for Brisbane Roar.
