2020 World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The 2020 World Rugby Under 20 Championship was to have been the thirteenth edition of the premier age-grade rugby competition. The tournament was to be in Italy for the third time, previously being held in 2011 and 2015. Second-time champions France would have been the defending champions. On 20 March 2020, World Rugby announced that the championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Championship was the twelfth edition of the premier age-grade competition for rugby. The tournament was held in Argentina for the second time, having been hosted there in 2010. Defending champions France won the under 20 title again in 2019, defeating Australia in a closely fought final by 24–23 at the Racecourse Stadium in Rosario. The 2019 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy was the twelfth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, second-tier world championship. The event was held at the Estádio Martins Pereira in São José dos Campos from 9 until 21 July and was organized by rugby's governing body, World Rugby. World Rugby Under 20 Championship
The World Rugby Under 20 Championship (known as the IRB Junior World Championship until 2014) is an international rugby union competition. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, World Rugby, and is contested by 12 men's junior national teams with an under-20 age requirement. This event replaced the IRB's former age-grade world championships, the Under 19 and Under 21 World Championships. The inaugural tournament was held in June 2008, hosted by Wales and with 16 teams participating. Wales was announced as host for the inaugural tournament in November 2007. The number of participating nations was reduced to 12 before the 2010 tournament due to financial reasons. The U20 Championship is the upper level of the World Rugby tournament structure for under-20 national sides. The 2012 IRB Junior World Championship was the fifth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. This competition replaced the now defunct Under 19 and Under 21 world championships. The event was organised in South Africa between 4 and 22 June 2012 by rugby's governing body, the IRB. A total of 12 nations played in the tournament. New Zealand came into the tournament as defending champions. South Africa were crowned 2012 champions after defeating New Zealand 22 - 16 in the final on the 22 June at Newlands Stadium. After finishing last at the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship, Tonga had been relegated to the IRB Junior World Trophy and therefore didn't participate in this year's event. All players who were twenty years of age or under on 1 January 2008 were eligible for selection. This competition replaced the now defunct Under 19 Rugby World Championship and Under 21 Rugby World Championship.
