2020 World RX Of Sweden
The 2020 Swecon World RX of Sweden was the first and second round of the seventh season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The event was held at the Höljesbanan in the village of Höljes, Värmland. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event, originally planned as a "traditionalal sixth round", later became the first double header (two races in a weekend) of season. Höljesbanan
Höljesbanan, also known as Höljes Motorstadion, is a rallycross circuit situated in the village of Höljes, in the Finnskogen ('Finnwoods') of the Swedish county Värmland, beside the river Klarälven and close to the Norwegian border. The circuit opened in February 1976 and is one of the most famous rallycross circuits in the world. Traditionally held over the first weekend of July the venue plays host to the so-called 'Magic Weekend' of rallycross when it runs the Swedish round of the European and World Rallycross championships. History The circuit was originally part of a go-kart centre opened in 1972 by the Finnskoga Motorklubb following the influx of Swedish drivers into Formula One, but quickly fell into disuse and it was decided the nearby gravel pit was to be turned into a rallycross circuit in October 1974. Anton Marklund
Anton Marklund (born 9 December 1992) is a Swedish racing driver who won the 2017 FIA European Rallycross Championship. He has competed most of his career for his father's team Marklund Motorsport. Career Marklund entered five rounds of the 2011 European Rallycross Championship for Marklund Motorsport with a Ford Fiesta TouringCar, scoring a third-place finish at Sweden. In the 2011 European Rallycross Championship he scored two wins and six second-place finishes, claiming the TouringCar title. For the 2013 European Rallycross Championship, Marklund moved to the Supercar to drive a Volkswagen Polo, finishing seventh in points. Marklund raced the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship for Marklund Motorsport in a Volkswagen Polo Supercar. He made 5 finals, including a career-best 2nd in Canada. Olsbergs MSE, which also competes under the title OMSE, is an auto racing team founded by Swedish former rally champion Andréas Eriksson as Motorsport Evolution (MSE) in 2005. In 2008 it ran under the name ''Ford Team RS Europe'', while in 2009 Swedish electro-hydraulic control systems manufacturer Olsbergs bought 50% of the team and it was renamed Olsbergs MSE. The team has been competing in rallycross since its creation, and was backed by Ford Performance until 2015, and again in 2018. Sebastian Eriksson (racing Driver)
Sebastian Eriksson is a Swedish rallycross driver. He is a former participant in the Global Rallycross Championship, and currently competes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Throughout his entire professional racing career, he has raced exclusively for Olsbergs MSE. Eriksson participated in the Light prototype class of the 2022 Dakar Rally in a team with Dutch co-driver Wouter Rosegaar. They finished in second place in their class. He has no relation with Olsbergs MSE team owner Andréas Eriksson or drivers Kevin Eriksson and Oliver Eriksson. Marcus Ulf Johan Grönholm (born February 5, 1968) is a Finnish former rally and rallycross driver, being part of a family of the Swedish-speaking population of Finland lineage. His son, Niclas Grönholm, is an upcoming FIA World Rallycross Championship driver. Grönholm's nicknames are either "Bosse" (mainly in his native Finland and the Scandinavian countries) or "Magic Marcus". Grönholm is one of the most successful WRC drivers of all time, ranking third in rally wins (30), and winning two championships, in 2000 and 2002. After Peugeot withdrew from the World Rally Championship, Grönholm moved to Ford for the 2006 season and placed second in the drivers' world championship, losing out to Sébastien Loeb by one point. The Hyundai i20 WRC is a World Rally Car built by Hyundai for use from the 2014 World Rally Championship. It is based on the Hyundai i20 subcompact car, and was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
