2020 Venice Municipal Election
A Municipal election was held in Venice, Italy, on 20 and 21 September. It was originally scheduled to take place on May 31, 2020, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. Electoral system The voting system is used for all mayoral elections in Italy, in the cities with a population higher than 15,000 inhabitants. Under this system, voters express a direct choice for the mayor or an indirect choice voting for the party of the candidate's coalition. If no candidate receives 50% of votes during the first round, the top two candidates go to a second round after two weeks. The winning candidate obtains a majority bonus equal to 60% of seats. During the first round, if no candidate gets more than 50% of votes but a coalition of lists gets the majority of 50% of votes or if the mayor is elected in the first round but its coalition gets less than 40% of the valid votes, the majority bonus cannot be assigned to the coalition of the winning mayor candidate. Luigi Brugnaro (born 13 September 1961) is an Italian conservative politician and entrepreneur who has been the Mayor of Venice, since taking office on 15 June 2015. Since July 2021, he is also president of Coraggio Italia (CI), a centrist political party affiliated with the Centre-right coalition (Italy), centre-right coalition. 2020 Italian Local Elections
The 2020 Italian local elections were held on different dates; they were originally scheduled to take place in May 2020, together with the 2020 regional elections, with a second round on June, but they were delayed on 20 and 21 September with a second round on 4 and 5 October due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. Direct elections were held in 1,172 out of 7,904 municipalities; in each of these, the mayor and the members of the City Council are going to be elected. Of the 1,172 municipalities, 18 are provincial capitals. Liga Veneta
Liga Veneta ( vec, Łiga Vèneta; en, Venetian League; abbr. LV), whose complete name is ( en, Venetian League for Salvini Premier), is a regionalist political party active in Veneto. The LV, whose ideology combines Venetian nationalism and support for fiscal federalism, was established in 1979 and was the first party of its kind in northern Italy, predating Umberto Bossi's Lega Lombarda by five years. The Party of Venetians ( it, Partito dei Veneti, PdV) is a Venetian nationalist and separatist political party in Veneto, Italy. The PdV was originally formed in April 2019 as a coalition of political parties in order to compete in the 2020 Venetian regional election. The Five Star Movement ( it, Movimento 5 Stelle , M5S) is a political party in Italy. Its leader and president is Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 until 2021.
