2020 Tour Des Alpes-Maritimes Et Du Var
The 2020 Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var was a road bicycle racing, road cycling stage race that took place from 21 to 23 February 2020. The race was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2020 UCI Europe Tour, and was the 52nd edition of the Tour du Haut Var, Tour des Alpes-Maritimes et du Var, which was known as the Tour du Haut Var prior to 2020. Teams Eight UCI WorldTeams, seven UCI Professional Continental, UCI ProTeams, and three UCI Continental teams made up the eighteen teams that participated in the race. Only three teams did not enter the maximum allowed of seven riders each; , , and fielded six apiece. 105 of the 123 riders that started the race finished. 2020 UCI Europe Tour
The 2020 UCI Europe Tour is the sixteenth season of the UCI Europe Tour. The 2020 season began on 25 January 2020 with the GP Belek and ended on 14 October 2020 with the 2020 Scheldeprijs, Scheldeprijs. Throughout the season, points are awarded to the top finishers of stages within stage races and the final general classification standings of each of the stages races and one-day events. The quality and complexity of a race also determines how many points are awarded to the top finishers, the higher the UCI rating of a race, the more points are awarded. Grasse
Grasse (; Provençal dialect, Provençal oc, Grassa in classical norm or in Mistralian norm ; traditional it, Grassa) is the only Subprefectures in France, subprefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes Departments of France, department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur Regions of France, region on the French Riviera. Simon Clarke (cyclist)
Simon Clarke (born 18 July 1986) is an Australian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He previously rode for the (2011) and (2012–2015) teams in the UCI World Tour. Before turning professional, Clarke competed in track cycling as an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. He is not related to fellow Australian cyclist and past teammate Will Clarke. Professional career At the 2012 Vuelta a España, Clarke won the fourth stage of the race, after being a part of an early breakaway that made it home on the mountainous race. Thibaut Pinot (born 29 May 1990) is a French professional road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI WorldTeam . Once considered one of the most promising talents in French cycling, he finished third overall in the 2014 Tour de France and first in the young rider classification. He has won stages in all three Grand Tours, with 3 in the Tour de France, 1 in the Giro d'Italia and 2 in the Vuelta a España. Pinot has also won the Giro di Lombardia in 2018 and finished 3rd in the race in 2015. Michael J. Storer (born 28 February 1997) is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career In August 2018, he was named in the startlist for the Vuelta a España. He also competed in the 2019 Vuelta a España, and the 2020 Vuelta a España. He rode the Giro for the first time in his career in 2021. He finished 31st while riding in support of Romain Bardet, who finished in 7th overall. During the 2021 Vuelta a España Storer won the first grand tour stage of his career on stage 7 and then went on to win again on stage 10. Col D'Èze
The Col d'Èze is a mountain pass in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France. It is located between Nice and Monaco, near to La Trinité. Cycling The pass is particularly well known for its frequent inclusion in the Paris–Nice road cycling stage race, where it has often formed the final decisive stage of the race. From 1969 to 1995 the race finished with a time trial up the Col d'Èze, except in 1977 when landslides had blocked the road. The Col d'Èze is a 9 km climb, starting from Nice and climbing to 507 m altitude. It is named after the village of Èze, part of the municipality of Nice. Sean Kelly won the Col d'Èze time trial five times in his seven-year dominance. In 1996, the finish was moved back to the Promenade des Anglais because of the low number of spectators on Col d'Eze and to take advantage of funding from the city of Nice.
