2020 Swiss Women's Curling Championship
The 2020 Swiss Women's Curling Championship, Switzerland's national women's curling championship, was held from February 9 to 15 in Thun, Switzerland. The winning Elena Stern team was supposed to represent Switzerland at the 2020 World Women's Curling Championship at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada but the event got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event featured the reigning World Champion rink Silvana Tirinzoni from Aarau, the Elena Stern rink from CC Oberwallis and two time World Champion team Binia Feltscher from Langenthal. In the final, Stern capped off an undefeated week by defeating Tirinzoni's team for the third time during the competition. Feltscher won the bronze medal with a 9–8 win over Nora Wüest. Larissa Hari (born 31 January 1996) is a Swiss curler from Adelboden. Career In her junior career, Hari played lead for Livia Schmid with Céline Koller as third and Alicia Guadaupi as second. They didn't win or medal at the Swiss Junior Curling Championships in any of their attempts. She later joined Aline Fellmann before joining the Binia Feltscher rink for the 2018–19 season. Carole Howald (born 29 March 1993 in Langenthal) is a Swiss curler from Langenthal. She currently plays second on Team Silvana Tirinzoni. Career Howald joined the Binia Feltscher rink at lead in 2017. She previously played with Melanie Barbezat and with this rink won the 2014 Dumfries Curling Challenge. They played in three Grand Slams in her first season with the team, qualifying in one of them, the 2017 Boost National. She got to play in her first official World Championship at the 2018 World Women's Curling Championship after being the alternate at her previous three appearances. The team struggled that week, failing to reach the playoffs after posting a 5–7 record. At the conclusion of the 2017–18 season, Irene Schori left the team and Howald was promoted to third. Michèle Jäggi (born 22 September 1987) is a Swiss curler. Jäggi has represented Switzerland as a junior curler, and is currently active on the World Curling Tour. Jäggi currently skips her own team. Career Jäggi is a former Swiss junior champion. She first appeared on the international scene at the World Junior Curling Championships in 2006, finishing in fourth place after losing in the semifinals and the bronze medal game. She returned to the World Junior Curling Championships two years after, but failed to make the playoffs, finishing in sixth place. Langenthal is a town and a municipality in the district of Oberaargau in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2010 the municipality of Untersteckholz merged into the Langenthal. On 1 January 2021 the former municipality of Obersteckholz merged into Langenthal. Langenthal is an educational, cultural, and economic center for the region of Oberaargau. History Archeological evidence suggests that early settlements existed around 4000 B.C. in the Langenthal area. A Hallstatt necropolis with twelve grave mounds has been found at Unterhard.
